A little one shot I typed up for the Phoenix Wright Kink Meme.
The prompt was: P/E. Fluff. Fluffy fluff. Long-term established relationship, waking up in bed together, one of them waking up a few minutes earlier and proceeding to have sleepy thoughts of adoration.
Gentle touching- like, brushing hair away from face and stuff- would be nice. Does not have to be at all smutty.
So, this is what I came up with!
Miles Edgeworth was not a morning person. Nor was he the kind that went to bed early. So waking up at four in the morning was never pleasant. Groggily, Miles started at the clock, as if willing it to say something else.
He sighed and proceeded to roll over and go back to sleep. However, he found himself unable to do so. Still half asleep, Miles couldn't think of a reason this ability was denied to him. He frowned, irked that the answer to this puzzle was alluding him. But, promptly, he noticed that a warm body was pressed against him from behind and arms were wrapped securely around his waist. That would explain it.
Miles twisted a little so he could take in his husband's face, and the defense attorney gave a soft sound-a cross between a sigh and a groan-in his sleep. Miles let a smile slide onto his face at the sight of Phoenix, lips slightly parted, with an odd half smile pulling the left side of his lips slightly upward.
'We've been married for almost three years now.' Miles thought, and was unable to decide if he felt like it had been longer than that or if three years couldn't be right. Miles could still clearly recall the day he had proposed to Phoenix, the way Phoenix's face had lit up and how he had all but tackled Miles. And the ceremony itself, how beautiful Phoenix had looked, especially when he had blushed bright red right before Miles' lips met his.
Miles traced those same lips with his fingers, then let his fingers wander to the laugh lines that were already forming. It seemed like the man was eternally happy. Phoenix was always so full of life, so happy, so passionate, that it seemed strange to see him in sleep, with no worry lines across his forehead or those ridiculous eyebrows scrunched together in concern.
Content, Miles shifted closer to Phoenix and ran his fingers through the other's wild hair, grinning as spiky strands stuck up every which way. The first time Miles had ran his fingers through the other's hair, Miles had been convinced that Phoenix styled it, and that the spikes would be hard with gel. Much to his surprise, the hair was ridiculously soft and the spikes would only droop when Phoenix's hair was wet. Miles was secretly glad that this was the case because he found it immensely satisfying to run his fingers through Phoenix's hair.
Miles sleepily buried his head in his husband's hair and breathed in, inhaling that scent that he could never identify. But whatever it was, it always made him feel at home and it was so strongly Phoenix that it was overwhelming.
"I'm so lucky…" Miles mumbled, gently brushing Phoenix's hair into some semblance of order. "So very lucky to have you."
"Nmh..Miles?" Miles froze guiltily. Phoenix was not usually a light sleeper, but apparently Miles must have woken him somehow.
"I'm sorry for waking you Phoenix. Go back to sleep."
Phoenix gave a little sigh and wiggled closer to Miles. "Mm. You're not leaving are you?"
"No." Miles replied, and Phoenix smiled sleepily and promptly fell asleep again.
I'll never leave you.
