A scream tore from the throat of the green 'beast' as he watched. A light green hand rested on his shoulder, blood trickling down in a steady flow. It scared the turtle, watching his brother in such a state. "Why? You're more important." Tears weren't suppressed, and they flowed easily from the turtles' eyes, staining his cheeks. The blue tinted turtle wiped furiously at them, hating himself for such a show of emotion. In front of his brother!
"You musn't... think like... like that." Mikey slid down and caught his older brother as he slumped against him, body falling limp. The orange mask tied around Mikey's face, soaked now, blew out steadily behind him, caught in the wind. Stained with red, the blue mask his brother wore didn't move. It was twisted around the three fingers of the youngest brother, who clutched the dead body to his chest, afraid of if he let it go, it would disappear.
"Leo! Please bro, don't leave me." Mikey paused, tears still streaming from his eyes. "Leo! Don't! Leo, please. Don't leave me here, alone." Light blue eyes shut tightly, trying to keep the unshed tears in. "Come back, big brother." It was then all the anguish, pity, and agony was released from Michelangelo, tearing from his throat. It wasn't a pretty sound.
"Mikey? Mikey. Michelangelo!" Pulling his little brother from his dream was no easy task. His nightmares hadn't ceased in the week they had started with their recovery process from their battle with the Shredder. Grass green hands shook the turtle vigoriously, forcing him from the restless sleep he had been trapped in, unable to escape. Light blue eyes opened, rather quickly, and frantically sought out his surroundings. Eyes finally resting on his older brother, he sat up, forcing the tears away that pricked at the corners of his eyes.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Leo knew when his brother was suffering. The only problem was, not even he could protect him from everything, and these nightmares seemed to tear his little brother apart the most.
The turtle shook his head. Leo looked down at him, and sat on the edge of the bed, pulling his youngest brother into an embrace, grassy green arms wrapping around the youngest, forcing demons away. "You shouldn't keep it to yourself, you know."
Mikey sighed. "I saw you, Leo. I saw you." Confused, the eldest turtle looked down at Mikey, trying to make sense of incoherent words. "The Shredder, he, you took the blow. He aimed to kill me, but you jumped in front of his... claws, and... and I watched you-" The tears that had been suppressed were flowing down his cheeks now, soaking Leo's arm.
"It's alright Mikey. I'm here, you're not alone. You will never be alone." A gentle caress met Mikey's cheek as the tears were wiped away. Leaning into his older brother's touch, he tried to stop his tears, but they wouldn't so easily leave. He only managed to slow them.
Leaning back, Leo pulled himself and Mikey onto the bed, heads resting on the pillow. His free hand pulled the blanket around the two, and holding Mikey close, he stroked his shoulder gently, coaxing him back into a dreamless sleep. "You will never be alone, little brother."
So what'da think? My first fanfic ever, written on a whim after reading many stories. Leave comments, critique it, tear it apart, I don't care, just as long as you leave a review to let me know what I could do to improve it. First time writing anything like this.
