Hi. That about as awesome as my introduction gets. I'm just too cool to put anymore effort into it. Not really, I just know you don't really care about what I say; you just want to get to the important bits, like the flock and stuff.
Well I hate to disappoint you, but this isn't all about them, this is about a girl who is ignored and has been told her life that she is unimportant and will never accomplish anything.
But turns out that not only do the lives of a certain 7 people depend on her, but so does the whole world.
That girl is me. Welcome to my existence.
A piece of paper his me and I glared at a kid who had thrown it, but my glare went straight through him as he was paying attention to the guy near me who the paper was directed at.
I went back to reading and blocked out the world. I was in the middle of reading Bloodlines for the forth time this week. Yes I have no life. I was a book worm, I just loved reading. My favorites included, Vampire Academy, Skullduggery, The mortal instruments, the keepers, Harry Potter, Twilight, The Lord of the Rings and Maximum Ride. The reality of books was so much better then this reality.
Everyone here though I was weird and avoided me. I much rather the characters in book then my class mates. I secretly laughed at them as I compared them to people in my books. Though no one in my class was anything like my favorite characters.
I finished the last page of my book and sighed. I tapped the table with my fingers, now bored. It was only five minutes later that temptation got to me and I dived into my bag and pulled out another book.
This one was Angel: A Maximum Ride novel. I had decided to read this book one more time because the next one after it was coming out today and I couldn't wait to go down and buy it straight after school.
The door opened and our principle walked in, followed by a shy looking kid.
"Class listen up" Miss Milsale told us.
"Ok kids. Today we have a knew student" our principle said, pulling the embarrassed looking boy in front of her. He was tall with blonde hair and was wearing large, dark sunglasses. He wore dark jeans and a black hoodie. The hoodie had 'Pyro' scribbled across it like flames and a few interesting red swirls around it. There was a chain on his pants that connected from the front belt loop on his pants to his back pocket. He wore skater's gloves, you know, the tight, fingerless ones, and he licked his lips nervously.
"This is Jeffery" the principle told us. "I need someone to take care of him or a while. Jeffery is blind" she said insensitively and I saw him blush under his sunglasses.
I heard a few unkind whispers and sniggers when she said it. No one raised their hands and I felt kind of bad for the guy. I looked down at my book I had been reading. One of the things Maximum Ride had given me was a new respect for blind kids. One of the characters in the book was a blind kid and he was one of my favorites. The character was also tall and blonde and even used the name Jeff once for a few pages in the second book. I don't know whether it was the fact this kid reminded me of my book character, or that I was desperate for someone to talk to, but I raised my hand.
"Ah, Blaze. There you go" she said to Jeffery and gave him a small nudge in my direction. He stood there, not knowing what to do, and I hadn't decided whether I felt sorrier for him for the whole blind thing, or that he had to spend time with me.
I heard a few quiet laughs as I stood up and helped Jeffery to a seat beside me. He gave me a small embarrassed smile. We all headed back to our own things and he was soon forgotten for new kids weren't really a big thing at this school.
"So…." I said awkwardly.
"So…" he said as well.
"How come you moved here?" I asked lamely. "Ahh, just umm" he seemed caught off guard. He looked uncomfortable so I changed the subject.
"So, nice weather we're having?" I asked, smooth Blaze, real smooth. He chuckled and I blushed. "I guess so. It's quite cold though, I never liked the cold" he said. "Same. I hate the cold, but I guess I have to deal with it" I shrugged.
"So what about you?" He asked.
"What about me?" I frowned.
"You usually sit alone and help blind strangers?" he grinned and I rubbed my neck nervously. "Sorry" he mumbled.
"No its ok. I'm kind of a freak around here" I admitted and I swear I heard him mumble something that sounded like "you have no idea."
"A freak? How so?" He asked.
"Well I keep to myself a lot. I don't dress like normal people. I'm just different I guess. And well people just don't like different" I shrugged. "Yeah, I know all about that" he said and I smiled sympathetically.
"So how long have you been blind?" I asked then mentally kicked myself. He just looked in my direction. "Sorry, that was insensitive" I blushed.
"No, it was good. Most people avoid the blindness thing. They always treat me differently like I'm fragile. It's nice to be treated normally" he smiled.
"Oh, well in that case don't take offence if I deliberately let you walk into a wall" I said and he chuckled.
"You'd be surprised how well I can get around" he said. I looked up at the clock. There was five minutes of class to go.
It passed quickly and I headed off to go home. I turned around, almost forgetting Jeff, which he had told me to call him.
"Sorry" I mumbled walking beside him. "It's ok, everyone I know forgets I'm blind a lot" he shrugged.
"Well how many people do you know?" I asked, half joking. "Not many" he said and I let it go.
"Jeff!" Someone called and I saw a pretty girl with light brown hair.
"I'll see you tomorrow?" I asked.
"You'll see me, but I won't see you" he laughed mysteriously and I rolled my eyes and he waved as he headed off.
I frowned as I saw Jeff head off with a familiar looking girl, and then I saw that back of a boy who was tall and had longish black hair.
Was I the only one who thought there was something really weird about that?
I shook it off as my thoughts turned to heading down to the closest store and getting my new book.
