"No, no, no, no, please God, no." The windowpane creaked under the pressure of her ghostly pale fist. Only the beaded glass, wet from more than her tears, saw the pain reflected in her golden brown eyes. The skin on her face was drying out from the flood of tears continuously running past her cheekbones. A cold, hopeless, wind sent a chill through her already shaking body. Her heart pounded as if it were going to break at any moment. Thunder struck and for a moment she was shaken out of her reverie long enough to notice she had not moved from that spot for hours. The clouds gave way to the rain as if to say they understood her pain, her torture, her fear and doubts.
The rising Moon was her only source of light and even it would disappear from her as the storm rolled in. Her once playful expression was replaced with a furrowed brow and pinched lips. How can her body take anymore? How can her heart still beat when the one person she entrusted it to tossed it away. Her mind was flooded. There was no room for logic or healing. The raw torment of her soul was her only reality. There was no comfort in this moment, no future, no plans, no desire to move on.
"Please God, why? I did everything I could! Why?" Every breath she took caused the glass to turn into a frog. Her mind raced as memories kept dancing through her head and causing a fog of their own. "He said he loves me. He said he was in this 100%, he said he wasn't like the others, he said he knew I was the one that he would want to spend his life with."
Suddenly a sharp sting pierced through her delicate heart. Her long legs went limp. The rough old wooden floors made a noise straining against the force of her knees meeting them. The tears falling from her black eye lashes created a small puddle next to her trembling hands.
So this is despair. This is hope lost. This is a heart broken...
