Toshinori Yagi wants to make a world where everyone can smile and live together. A symbol is necessary for that to happen. A Symbol of Peace…And he will become that Symbol.

"Mommy; Daddy…", "Someone please help…"

Toshinori woke up to the sound of his alarm, and promptly began to prepare for school. He took a shower, washing away any sweat or dirt that had accumulated the day before. He felt fresh and ready to go; he also brushed his teeth and took care of any other matters of personal hygiene as well. He double checked that all of his books and homework were in his backpack. There was nothing worse than getting to school and realizing that you have left a permission slip or an assignment at home. Toshinori looked through all of his papers and made sure he had what he needed. He then ate a protein packed breakfast and some complex carbohydrates to keep him energized until lunch.

He then put on the uniform that he had laid out the night before, which consisted of a white shirt with a black blazer and trousers, along with normal school shoes. He looked in the mirror to make sure that everything looked right. He made adjustments were needed, and checked the weather, it was snowing lightly. He packed his lunch, and headed out the door.

On his way to school he witnessed a police car chase. What a shame. He shook his head, and continued his way to school.

"You guys are all third years now." Toshinori's teacher took a sheet of paper from a pile on his table. "It's time to start thinking seriously about your futures. I'm handing these future career forms." He began to hand out the forms to all the students. "I assume you all want to be heroes. Yes, some of you have wonderful quirks. But you have to think realistically; being a hero can tear you apart if you aren't careful." He looked down at his leg, and Toshinori took note of his teacher's limp. He could only imagine what could have caused that.

"Sensei don't lump me in with these guys!" A slender boy with long blond hair, which he wore spiked upwards in a huge tuft behind his head spoke up. The teacher looked over at the student. "Ah, Yamada…You, of course…Must be aiming for U.A. High School." The teacher had an air of sarcasm in his voice. The students began to chatter among themselves "That national school?!" "I hear they barely accept anyone."

"I aced the mock exam! I have the stuff for U.A.!" Hizashi jumped onto his desk. "I'll become the best hero out there! Not to mention I'll be one of the richest people in the world." His powerful voice filled the room.

"Oh. You're also going for U.A., aren't you, Yagi?" This made Toshinori twitch, and all the students turned to face him. Giggles and murmurs were heard throughout the classroom, "Yagi are you sure?" One of the students mouthed. "Good grades alone can't get you into the hero program." Toshinori clenched his fists and abruptly stood up, "I don't know how, or when, but…"

"Come on, Toshinori!" Everyone looked towards the teacher; he had a furious expression on his face. "Forget the weak quirks. You're totally quirkless." Toshinori held his head down in shame, the teacher smirked, believing he had sufficiently crushed the boy's spirit, but then…

"There's no harm in trying…" Toshinori tightened his fists even more.

"Why you little..." The teacher took a step forward towards Toshinori, but was quickly halted by a small ice barrier, just big enough for him not to jump over. "That's close enough sir." Toshinori looked at the creator of the ice wall; it was a girl with straight shoulder-length white hair with rather long bangs over her face, and brown-gray eyes with reasonably long eyelashes. She smiled at him, causing him to blush and look away. "Hmph." The teacher made his way back to his desk and sat quietly.

Finally, the school day came to an end; the small classroom filled with chatter as students filed out. Toshinori wanted to try and talk to the white haired girl but when he looked up from his desk, he was met with a smiling Hizashi.

"Ah." He literally jumped from his seat. "Calm down Yagi, how are you gonna be a hero if standing in front of you is all it takes to scare you." Toshinori rolled his eyes at this statement, assuming that all he had come to do was make fun of him; he picked up his stuff and began to walk away. "Hold up." Hizashi amplified his voice as he picked up his things and followed Toshinori. "What do you want Yamada?" Toshinori did not bother to look back; once Hizashi had caught up with him, "So you want to be a hero?" he caught his breath, "Yeah, what of it." Toshinori frowned at the boy.

"Well…" Here it comes; Toshinori tightened his muscles in expectancy"Let's both do our best, because the best heroes out there, they showed signs of greatness even as students." Toshinori's eyes widened as he saw Hizashi's fist extended to him. Toshinori almost broke into tears as he returned the gesture. "We'll be the first and only heroes from this crappy public middle school; the first to win the honor of becoming students at U.A. High." Hizashi put a hand on Toshinori's shoulder. Eventually, the boys parted ways, and Toshinori thought to himself as he walked home.

It was…Ten years ago…There was a big disaster a while back. In the aftermath…My parents died…And I was about to follow them. I tried to call for help…But no one came…Until…"Don't worry kid; I'm here." A man, not a hero…Saved my life that day. That was when I keep my chin up and keep moving forward. Even without a quirk.

"Yagi!" Toshinori's thoughts were cut off; he turned around to see his teacher.

"Afternoon sir." The tall man now stood right in front of the boy. "Please forget this dream of becoming a hero, and think about a proper future for yourself." The man placed a hand on Toshinori's shoulder, and the boy thought of the most polite way to reply him. "I'm sorry sir, but I've made up my mind." He looked up directly into the tall man's eyes. "If that's your decision, then so be it." Toshinori felt a cold feeling in his abdomen; he slowly looked down and saw that he had been pierced by his teacher's long sharp metallic fingernails.

Before he knew it; Toshinori's blazer was covered in blood, he tried to scream, but his voice caught in his throat. "Don't worry. It will all be over just now." Toshinori clawed at the man's arms, but to no avail. "No point in trying that." I can't breathe! My body…Getting weak…I'm dying! I'm gonna die!? Someone help! I'm dying! Toshinori could feel his body growing weaker, getting colder. No.

"Fear not young man." A beautiful woman with a tough demeanor stood in front of the two. She was a fairly tall woman of slender yet voluptuous frame, and at the same time she was well-built. She was fair-skinned, and had a small mole below her bottom lip, centered to the right, and sharp, intelligent eyes with quite long eyelashes. Her hair was dark and straight, kept shoulder-length with the exception of a clump of short bangs hanging above her forehead, and was styled in a half-up-half-down bun.

Her hero costume consisted of a dark, sleeveless bodysuit with a high collar, yellow elbow-length gloves and white knee-high boots. Around her waist was a belt with an angular golden buckle, a small cape attached around the back which hung down to her knees, and over her shoulders was a longer cape, buttoned to the shoulders of her bodysuit.

In that moment Toshinori passed out.

Toshinori's eyes fluttered open. "You're okay! Excellent!" Toshinori's eyes widened, and he tried to move backwards as he realized that the woman's oppai were in his face. "Apologies…For that." She noticed his reaction and put a hand on her hip. "Mistakes like that aren't my style, but…thanks to you! I've incapacitated the villain!" Toshinori looked around, realizing that he was in a hospital bed, his abdomen was bandaged and he had an oxygen mask on his face. He looked back at his savior. Wow she's so beautiful, and she saved my life. Toshinori was practically drooling over her.

"Doctors said that you're all patched up and ready to go." She walked out of the room. Toshinori was putting on his now washed and dried uniform. Then it hit him. He ran, trying to catch up with the woman, who had already exited the hospital.

"Hold on! I need to ask you something." The pro hero stopped in her tracks, turning back towards Toshinori. He caught his breath and gulped, "My name is Toshinori Yagi, I'm quirkless…But even without a quirk…can I still be a hero?!" Toshinori stood up straight.

"I want to make a world where everyone can smile and live together. A symbol is necessary for that to happen."

"A symbol?"

"A Symbol of Peace…The reason crime in this country isn't decreasing is that the citizens have no support…They have no pillar they can rely on. That's why I will become that pillar."

"Is that why you want to be a hero?" She had her hands on her hips. "Even though you're quirkless?"

"Yes." He had a sense of pride to his posture.

"Toshinori Yagi…right?" She now faced him directly. "You're really funny. You're crazy." A smirk formed at the corner of her mouth. "You know a pro should always be ready to risk his or her life. If you desire to help people, why not become a police officer…That too is admirable work. It's not wrong to dream. However…You need to be realistic." She continued on her way.

"I don't care what you say." She looked over her shoulder at Toshinori. "I was only asking out of respect…I will become the Symbol of Peace no matter what you or anyone else says." She thought about everything the young man had said.

I am thinking about my future seriously. Even if they tell me I can't, I'll just keep on trying. This is my reality. Toshinori clenched his fists.

"Hey, Yagi!" The woman stood behind him, "Huh?!" Toshinori jolted as he turned around to face her. She's so fast.

"I have a proposal." She had a smirk at the corner of her mouth. "Even though you're quirkless, you dared to ask if…" She closed her eyes in thought, showing a visible pause in her speech. "Most of the top heroes show signs of greatness even as children…Many of them claim that…they did everything in their power, with their power, to get to where they are now." For some reason…I remembered what that man did. Back then he said to me "Don't worry kid; I'm here." And since then all I wanted to say to someone in need was…

"Toshinori Yagi, if you want to be a hero and a symbol of peace, there's nothing to worry about, why, cause…"
