Author's notes: Written to rectify the lack of… anything tonight. Sorry for the flooding of fics, but I'm mad at the writers and am taking my aggression out on the characters. I'm sorry if this is OOC, and as always constructive feedback would be very much appreciated. My first Meredith POV, tell me what you think.

Her bed feels empty without him. It's not uncommon for her to sleep alone, but the sheets usually have a lingering sent of Derek to help lull her there.
But not right now. Stupid Izzie and her stupid need to do laundry.
Meredith curls on her side, wanting to sleep. Wanting to block this day, and the stupid test, and her mess of a father and… everything out.
But of course, since the world hates her, it doesn't come.
Instead, her door bangs open, sending dim light into the room. She turns, Derek's name on her lips.
"So Burke has this stupid rule about not seeing the bride the night before the wedding or something," Cristina announces. "Hey, where's Mcbed partner? I was looking forward to kicking his ass out of here," she says, sounding almost regretful.
"I don't know," Meredith mumbles, feeling sad and lost and close to crying.
Cristina is quiet as she takes off her shoes and shirt, leaving her in a tank top and sweats. But when she climbs into bed and her arm brushes Meredith's shoulder for a brief second, it helps. A little bit.
"Did you write your vows?" Meredith ventures.
"Let's not discuss the wedding," Cristina moans. Let's just forget everything that happened today, actually."
"Like my dad being an ass? And my stupid half sister, who is really very sweet, but who can't restrain him until after he's done yelling?" She is suddenly angry, griefs grasp holding fast, and twisting her in all different directions.
"Yeah, like that. And like that stupid test. Was it easier the second time?" She blurts, and Meredith knows this is supposed to be helping. "I know I was supposed to talk to you and stuff," Cristina forges on.
"I'm glad you didn't," Meredith breaks in. The anger has bled from her voice as quickly as it entered it, leaving her feeling heavy and close to breaking.
"We don't fail stuff. We don't freeze up," Cristina tries to explain.
"Mother's aren't supposed to die less than a month apart," Meredith counters. "Nothing makes sense right now."
"Fiancé's aren't supposed to propose and plan a wedding in three weeks, and expect me to care."
"My dad's not supposed to blame me," Meredith whispers.
"Your dad is an ass. We know this."
Meredith flips onto her back, causing her arm to press against Cristina's again. Cristina has been trying, Meredith knows. Trying for Burke, and trying for her. She has to be stretched just as thin as Meredith herself feels, but she just wishes they both hadn't needed her on the same day, and that Burke hadn't taken precedence.
"You're lucky the chief loves you and let you retake the exam," Cristina says after a long stretch of just breathing.
Meredith smiles, turning to lean her face into Cristina's hair. "I like Burke's stupid rules," she decides, because she knows this is Cristina's way of saying sorry.
"It could be worse," Cristina agrees, adjusting the blankets.
"Just don't hog the bed, this time."
"You're the one who feels the urge to cuddle or whatever."
"It's my bed!"
"It's my body!"
"Whatever, shut up."
"Whatever."
Still, Meredith wakes up in the middle of the night to discover herself pressed close against Cristina, an arm securing her there.
And despite the hell this last week has been, she still somehow feels exponentially lucky.
