Rise of the Black Circle

Chapter 1. Prologue

Deep beneath the ocean floor of Magenzian Falls laid a shining, stagnant jewel. The way it shimmered when it caught the light from above… it was beautiful in all its glory.

The inside, however, did not share its outer beauty. Inside, after two long years, an illusion began to fade. And a fierce woman with long black hair screamed in sheer hatred. Piercing green eyes watched venomously, scowling as her dreams of conquering the universe in attempt of creating a better place vanished in front of her.

Her flowing, beautiful black locks of hair turned to a pale, greasy grey colour, and she could feel her skin sagging as she held up a pair of wrinkled hands and sobbed in fury. Her former Guardian uniform was now replaced with a long, dark grey robe.

She let out another heart-wrenching scream as she fell to her knees. She had lost everything: her supportive husband, her loving son, her unfaltering youth…her happiness. And now there was nothing, nothing but a blue light that spread everywhere.

She was trapped in a jewel for all of eternity.

The Guardians would pay. No matter what happened – no matter how long it took, no matter what the price to pay – the Guardians would pay. With their lives.

All of a sudden, the dark silhouette of a tall man appeared before her. She looked up and tilted her head to the side with a questioning look? What was happening? Was this a trick? It certainly was not a figment of her imagination.

The man before her had the most foreboding aura to him. He had a muscular build that was evident even through a silhouette. The only specks of colour to him were of his sinister, merciless pale blue eyes that solely screamed evil.

"Who are you?" She demanded in what could only be described as a fool's hope of what was an authoritative tone. The man simply chuckled.

"Who I am is not of your concern. Only that I am here to help you." Her replied briskly in a voice that was low and smooth.

"If you are here to help me, as you say you are, I feel it does concern me." She replied, regaining the confidence she had earlier lost, as she slowly stood up to face the man who was a full head taller than her.

"Hmm…feisty and clever," He answered in an amused tone, and she could almost feel him smirk. "I am your saviour." She could only raise a wrinkled brow. "How would you like to restore your former youth and beauty? To continue your unforgotten plans? To make Candracar sorry they ever crossed your path?"

"I would do anything in my power to make that happen." She replied wistfully, fantasising of what would only remain a dream.

"I could make that happen, and so much more."

"That's all I want."

The man reached out his strangely cold silhouetted hand. "Then all I ask of you is that you join me."
