Author's Note: Yeah, this is my first story. It's going to be OOC because I didn't watch that much of the anime yet and i don;t really know about Miharu and Yoite's character developement but I love the couple too much not to rite anything. :P

By the way (As everyone knows) Nabari no O is not mine, no matter how hard I wish on a birthday candle. (If i did own it, Yoite would NEVER have died. He and Miharu would be on fluffy cloud nine)

Snow had finally begun to fall as Yoite lay down on the park bench, closing his eyes. For a second, he didn't feel the cold of the snowflake that gently settled onto his face. And for some reason…

It scared him.

"Yoite! Happy birthday!"

Said man turned around and widened his eyes in surprise as a younger male flung himself towards him, threatening to knock them both down. Miharu looked up at him, flushed from the cold air around them. The little boy grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the direction of their special place.

A place only for Yoite and Miharu.

Miharu jumped up into the empty train and motioned for Yoite to follow him. Once they were both inside, Miharu gave Yoite the surprise that he was hiding behind one of the seats. It was a small white cake, deprived of anything else but the small lone candle that stood in the middle. Yoite just stared at it until Miharu blushed and looked down, wincing. "I didn't have enough money to but you a cake, so I made one instead."

Yoite looked at Miharu's face, and then reached with his gloved hands to taste a piece. It was moist and not too sweet. Yoite reached for another piece, relief filling him as he found out that his taste had not left him yet, for he couldn't bear the sight Miharu's slight hurt before. Miharu looked up and smiled at the sight of Yoite stuffing the small pieces of cake into his mouth using his hands. Miharu reached over and took a hold of Yoite's hand, handing him a fork. They both ate silently, occasionally looking at the other, until the only part of the cake that was left was the small piece that held the candle up. Yoite looked at it curiously.

"Miharu. What is the candle for?"

Miharu looked a bit shocked as he looked at the candle, as if he had forgotten that it was still there. He quickly took out a lighter and lit it up, the small flames lighting up the dark, abandoned room. The confusion was still in Yoite's eyes as he peered into the flame, wondering if something was supposed to happen. His thought was interrupted by Miharu's voice.

"When you blow out a candle and make a wish, it's supposed to some true, and since I can't control my powers that well yet… well." Miharu trailed off, avoiding Yoite's stare. Yoite then moved to look at the flame once more, closed his eyes and blew.

'I wish…'

When he opened his eyes, he saw a glimpse of pain in Miharu's eyes before it was concealed with his old indifference. One he hadn't shown for a while since they had become close. Yoite reached out to touch his cheek, Miharu's warmth seeping into his hand through his glove. Unlike the snowflake, he could still feel Miharu. He was glad. Miharu seemed collecting his thoughts, opening and closing his mouth as if deciding on what to say.

"Did you wish that you didn't exist?"

Miharu's voice was laced with anguish as he glanced at the candle stub that was still smoking a bit from the fire before. Yoite let his hands slip from Miharu's face and rested it on his own lap, blinking at the unexpected question. Silence filled the air as Yoite thought. No… he hadn't remembered that he had once wanted to never exist when he made his wish.

All he could think about when blowing out the candle was Miharu.
