Author's Note: I wrote this last night about 11:30 P.M. I was listening to Josh Groban's CD with the song 'Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)' and the words 'A silver thorn, a bloody rose' caught my attention and I just wrote this down. Which leads me to my disclaimer
DISCLAIMER: I do NOT own The Ousiders, I don't own Josh Groban's song either. I DON'T own them. End of story!
A SILVER THORN
A poem about Dallas Winston
I can clearly see your face
They said you were mean, which was the case
But not all of it
You were a gentleman, and you took those bullets
You rode gaily into sure death, crumpling under the streetlight because you were gallant
You were a silver thorn
In your ice cold blue eyes
I see your unshed tears
And all of your fears
You could've been the rose
A bloody rose, staining your clothes
You are no rose
You are a silver thorn
Everyone will miss you,
Though no one thought they would
After all, who misses a silver thorn from a perfect rose?
