Lines
Disclaimer: I do not own Victorious.
There was a damn line drawn between them. Always. Forever.
He tried hard, so hard, to erase it. Go away smoothly. But the line went 3D special effects on him and turned into a glass wall between them. He always saw her, always her brown hair and effervescent laugh and thin body. And he always wanted that.
Because Beck isn't one to be satisfied with what he has.
So he cut through the glass, risking some blood, and fought the angry guard preventing him from reaching out to her. Letting his hand hold hers. Allowing his lips to jumble up with hers.
Because life always makes Beck work hard for the prize.
She was his from the start; he just wasn't hers. She latches onto him at home like he was in the goddamn army and came back with no leg. But he knew that was because Tori couldn't resist his charm. Their shirts collide as the stripes from her shirt hit the plaid of his. She throws their lips together at school, and he won't let her stop.
Because she lets him have her.
He throws the frame on the wall, and the shards of glass collect to reform a bit of that wall from early on. They're distant, and she's pissed off. Women? Is that it? No. They end up running back to each other in an hour, stomping through the minuscule wall.
Because they're irresistible and near perfect.
She accuses him. He accuses her. Missing the ex? Jealous? Lonely. They're inseparable and it gets to them. How do married people do it?
Because they love each other, and Beck and Tori don't.
They apologize and awkwardly shift away from each other. It can't be the same anymore. They both have mood swings and issues and it's all too much and too little and they want to hold each other eversoclose and slam each other against a wall sosohardand they can't do it.
Because they don't know what they feel.
No talking. No staring. No longing.
Because Beck has self-control.
He asks her for some advice before his audition. They're friends, right? He's ready to be a superstar. She does her part to help him. Turns out she's already booked a few jobs, but never told him.
Because they just had to go and reform that line, didn't they?
He's trying to walk around that wall, a few steps at a time. It's tough because the white of her soul just clashes ohsobadly with the dark of his. But he's not all dark.
Because Tori brings the sunshine into his life.
He sees her light up that screen in a "small, but crucial role" and congratulates her. Her blush almost makes his heart spiral. In reality, he's jealous. His deals are falling through, and they're almost out of high school, and HEWANTSACAREER.
Because he's ambitious (and resentful).
Beck moves past it, like he always has. Soon, he's apologizing and begging for her. But Tori's stubborn and special. She likes to have her crème brûlée because cake just won't do. So, Beck writes her a song.
Because he's still head over heels for that smile. (He doesn't know that she doesn't care.)
Tori's crying so hard she doesn't know what to do. What happened, Tori? He hurt me. I'll be right there. And he is. She kisses him that night.
Because Beck is at her beck and call. There really was no other way to say it, regardless of the pun.
He's so happy, but she's so scarred. And he's chipping away at the wall, never asking for too much. He knows it hurts her to think about it. So, he lets her be, just safe in his arms.
Because they accept each other with their flaws and imperfections.
The effort comes both ways. They're balanced on a see-saw that's red and shiny.
Because they painted that wall with the color of love.
The lines disappear.
Just because.
