A/N: Just a cute little drabble/one-shot I wrote for my friend. This is for you, Ginger! :D
DISCLAIMER: I don't own Harry Potter, or anything of the likeā¦besides my books, posters, and wands, of course.
Luna Lovegood was the oddest girl to grace Hogwarts grounds. Her airy personality was one not many showed during the war. She had a positive atitude for everything, and believed creatures that didn't exist. Everyone made fun of her for it, save her few friends. He did too, but only because he couldn't bare to think of his reputation as the Slytherin Prince to fall. In all honesty, he found her quite fascinating. He admired her. He'd go as far as to say he was even jealous of her. He longed to speak out...but the Dark Mark on his left arm told him otherwise.
They did talk, though. In private, of course. Again, reputation and his side of the war forbid it. But when he was with Luna Lovegood...he could be himself. He wasn't the Death Eater, the Slytherin Prince, the Bully. He was Draco Malfoy, the blonde boy who didn't know what to do. And she listened. She listened to his every story, every complaint, every worry. She would respond with her own stories and fears and worries. When she was taken away from her home over Easter, Draco was furious. He knew exactly where she was. And he couldn't free her, not unless he wanted to die, or want her to die. The battle happened, and her name kept him fighting. He was determined to survive, for both his mother and Luna Lovegood. For the whole time he stayed at his home, he heard her screams of torture. Draco Malfoy realized something with each scream, each break of his heart at the sound: he loved her. He loved Luna Lovegood, the quirky Ravenclaw that everyone bullied.
The first thing he did when he saw she had survived was kiss her with so much passion she was lifted up in the air. It surprised him that she didn't push him away, and yet it didn't. She had always accepted him...he just didn't believe it would be in this way.
"Luna?" Draco whispered after they broke apart. Everyone who had seen the kiss were staring in shock, but he didn't care. Luna's grey eyes met his ice blue ones.
"Yes, Draco?" Luna asked.
"I...I love you."
Luna gave him the whistful smile he had grown to love over the course of a year. "I love you too."
It was that moment that Draco Malfoy, for the first time in his life, had truely felt complete.
