John Watson had gone through too much pain within the past three years, starting with Sherlock and Reichenbach, and continuing with the death of his wife, Mary, during the birth of their only child, left motherless before the baby could take the first of many breaths to come in its life. After Teagan Mary Watson, a healthy baby girl, was able to leave the hospital, John moved back into 221B Baker street, where Mrs. Hudson was always available to watch Teagan, and John soon began to work 9 hours a day, and then spent every night coaxing Teagan back to sleep. At two months old, John named Mycroft her godfather, and found his expenses slowly decreasing, and piles of baby care items being stacked in the living room. Mrs. Hudson often came by to help John unpack the latest box from Mycroft or just to have a cup of tea with him and little Teagan. Despite all of this, John was terrified that he would never be a good enough father for his daughter, and depression settled in, replacing the thrill of the chase, replacing the body parts hidden through the flat, replacing the few and fleeting happy memories of his time with Mary, and with it, brought back the need for a cane and the pain from the war. John was broken, and left bleeding on the ground, and Teagan was barley keeping him from joining Sherlock and Mary.
