F.E.A.R: New Beginnings

Introduction: Monster…?

What is a monster? Is it something we run and hide from? Is it something we fear so much that we'd do anything to be rid of it? The world is full of monsters. Terrorists. Extremists. Murderers. But these are not monsters, they are simply lives that have been wasted on an already decaying soul, they are the ones that spread their false truths and poison the minds of hundreds, they are the things that haunt us every waking moment of our lives. But monsters, they are far worse. They haunt us in our dreams, they scream in your head, make you do things only a mad man would do. These are the true traits of a monster. But can someone whose own nightmares, whose own fears, whose own uncontrollable powers that flood into the 'real' world be called a monster? That is for you to decide. But in the end, it is not your monsters that destroy you…it is yourself.

His name is Andrew Lucas. He is a hard to reach to boy. He is cynical, stubborn, but he is also hopeful. For most hours of the day, he sits and wonders 'How did man screw everything up?'. He is called a daydreamer. It's true, but hardly anything he thinks about could at all be associated with dreaming, except for the dream that one day man would realize it's mistakes and set things right. He refuses to believe 'reality', claiming it is all a matter of perspective, a point of view that depends on the individual. His dreams are seen as too hopeful and unrealistic. He is told he is idealistic and over simplifies things, but he counters that others over complicate things, and once again brings up that it is all a matter of perspective. The boy is foolish, and he knows it, but it doesn't stop him from being hopeful of a better tomorrow.

But none of this, his ideals, his dreams, his hatred for sin can prepare him for what awaits him. He will come face to face with the devil herself, the bringer of the apocalypse…and my sister.

Her name is Alona, or at least that's the name my brother has given her. She could have been raised by me, but my brother, for a second time, put a gun to my head and pulled the trigger…three times. A total of four times he has shot me, and I still refuse to die. I guess I take after my mother. But soon, if I get my way, I'll be able to see if my brother has the same resilience.

My family will soon come together for an amazing event that will change history and alter the fate of everything that exists. The only thing is, no one has any idea what it will be, not even I. But I will be there to witness it, along with my brother and sister, and Andrew Lucas. The real question is, will the guest of honour show? Will she once again spring to life when thought dead? Will you finally return…mother?
