Two people sat in the window of the small cafe. They weren't talking, just sitting together and not looking at each other. For the first time, the woman spoke up.
"How could we let this happen? Why didn't we see this coming?"
The man looked at her, slightly surprised as he had not expected her to talk. He thought this would be just like every other sunday.
"Because we didn't want to see it happen", he paused for a second, "Even if we did," he paused again, "We were all friends, why would we think to look for this to happen?"
They sat in silent contemplation, finishing their coffee. Finally the woman rose, got her things together and started walking away.
"Wait" the man called after her. She stopped and turned at the sound of his voice.
"For what?"
"I'll walk you to your car," the man walked up to her with his coat over his right arm. He put his left arm over her shoulders, like he used to.
As they walked from the warm interior of the cafe to the chilly air outside, the woman questioned.
"What made this Sunday different?" even tho both of them already knew, she still wanted to hear it from him.
"I think we needed anwers, and the need finally got to great." he opened her car door. Impulsively she reached up and gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
"I guess i'll see you 'round, Remus." Amanda said uncertianly.
"Yeah I guess so," Remus replied, barely audible. He then turned and walked towards the alley behind the cafe so he could apparate home, knowing the entire time that they probably wouldn't be seeing each other again. It was time to leave the past behind them, there was nothing holding them together anymore.
