"Will the next one be in 300 years?"

"...for us Searrs, it'll be a short time."

THE PREMISE

300 years ago, Versailles, France was a magical and bustling metropolis of the age. Blinded by the brilliance of the French Renaissance, the Sun King Louie XIV persecuted the Huguenots and built his palace with a splendor unmatched in the civilized world. He lavished his nation in luxury and war, and the autumn was ripe for change. Rumors of sea monsters, pirates, witchcraft and phantom beasts plagued the commoners. The nobility simply danced their troubles away in the backstabbing ball of "etiquette" and reputation.

This is the story of the 12 Maidens of the Star that fought before Mai Tokiha.

THE SETTING

Versailles, France, 1703. Historically, this period during the Renaissance was a time of revolution in the royal family. Rumors, murders, and unexplained deaths were common, comprised partially of the King and his sister, his grandchildren and other non-royal historical figures. While the family struggled to suppress the recently-defeated Huguenot rebellion, the scattered refugees the Sun King's war in Savoy plotted revenge.

This story will be highly influenced by the history of Versailles, the Sun King and the French Renaissance. I will write as accurate to history as I can while balancing for entertainment appeal, as well as attempting accuracy to the proceding round of the carnival- Mai Hime.

COPYRIGHT INFO
I do not own Mai Hime, history, or much of anything. In fact, I'm a college student- all I have are my open forum copyrights. I copyright the characters, plot, events and themes of this story (except for the historical ones, since the textbook industry already owns those), and would be glad to give anyone permission to reference or use anything I write.

On with the show.
