Warning: Spoilers for season 5 episode 4: HalloVeen

It was 3am by the time they were in bed ready to sleep. Jake thought back to the events of the past 24 hours and how much has changed. He remembered the shock at his usually professional captain and how the traditional heist had made him enter the apartment at 3:00 in the morning. He thought about the jokes about his time in prison and how his plans for the heist had kept his moral high. He thought about the words which had changed his life for the better "Jake Peralta, I will marry you".

Despite the life changing moment in the evidence room he was fixated on another sentence of his future wife's. "You're just plain boring." He knew she had been joking and was just trying to get in his head to win the heist, but it still hurt. What if he did bore her?

Amy tilted her head up and kissed Jake's chin. "What are you thinking?" she asked sleepily.

"Nothing. Just... do I bore you?" Jake mumbled quickly hoping she didn't here and he wouldn't have to talk about his feelings. Amy was silent for a few moments with a furrowed brow as she tried to figure out what her fiancé had said.

"Jake, babe, you don't bore me, sure you don't surprise me as much anymore but that's just because we've been together for so long. You will never bore me though, I know you well enough to know that you are never boring."

"But how do you know for sure?" Jake's vulnerability and insecurity started to become evident with his quiet tone.

"I just do. If I didn't I wouldn't have agreed to marry you. I love you so much. I will always love you so much." Amy's reassurance came with a kiss. Jake thought back to the panic on Amy's face when she thought his proposal was just part of the heist and the tears in her eyes as embraced him with the ring on her finger. He couldn't believe he'd ever doubted her.

"I will always love you so much too." Jake replied smiling.

The next morning, or rather a few hours later, Jake and Amy wandered into the bullpen hand in hand, ready to do some serious police work. The morning briefing went by fairly uneventfully (other than Charles' happy sighs every time he glanced at the newly engaged couple, which was frequently) until Jake stood up suddenly.

"Is there a reason for this interruption detective?" Came the monotonous voice of Captain Holt

"Yes! I have figured out who won the heist." the young detective exclaimed with a happy grin.

"Dude we decided last night no one won." Rosa stated

"Well I disagree. I think that Amy and I won the heist and I will tell you why. Amy won because she had the belt-" "cummerbund" "-at midnight and I won because I somehow convinced the best person in the world to marry me."

"Awww" came the enevitable reply from Charles

"Terry loves love but the aim wasn't to get engaged. If it was I would have won years ago." Terry said with a shrug.

"Also the cummerbund didn't have the appropriate message engraved on it when Santiago came into possesion of it."

"Ah yes, but the rules didn't clearly state what message had to be engraved on the belt it was just whoever had the belt at midnight. Which was the incredible detective Santiago. As for my win, despite it not being an official heist win I still feel like a winner." Jake announced with a loving look at Amy.

"Personally I think my win was also getting engaged." Amy smiled

"Ames, do you want the heist win or not?"

"I want the heist win."

As the squad stood up to leave the briefing room Jake looked at Holt and smiled:

"Please never break in at 3 in the morning again."

"I can't promise anything."
