He'd Thank Me Later
"I told you I was sorry!" Link explained, twiddling his thumbs together as confrontation as never his strong suit. I crossed my arms and waited for an apology a hug at the very least, but when he looked up from his hands all I saw was a wall. He put it up every so often to protect himself, but now was not the time.
"Would you do the same for me?" I asked, growing even more hysterical by the moment. He nodded, biting his lip.
"Of course."
"Liar," I accused, feeling my nose crinkle as he hid behind his long hair. "You'll always chase after her. I'm never first priority."
"It's my job Dark. You don't understand!" he begged for my compliance. I scoffed as my lip twitched with anger.
"Goddess' Hero, how dare I doubt you? My sincerest apologies!" I mock bowed.
"Don't," he whined.
"Don't what? I suppose I did that wrong too didn't I? Go to her, run along, go see the princess and send my regards because quite frankly I can't stand to see your face right now." He meekly turned and walked away. I didn't know what to do with my shaking body. I know I had an overbearing presence and that it wasn't fair of me to do that to him, but what I needed right now was some time to cool down. I just needed some quality time by myself.
"Hey listen!" Navi trilled. I looked up from underneath my bangs and glared at the fairy.
"What?" I demanded. She shook, positively burning with the desire to tell me something.
"He doesn't mean it," she replied. "Zelda's just a friend!" I didn't know what to say to the ball of light. Anything I did she'd just tell Link. Zelda would probably find out by default. So, I just didn't say anything. I took my sword from its sheath and sharpened the edges. Navi awaited a response only to receive the silent treatment. She buzzed to the other side of my head demanding my attention.
She nudged my shoulder only to be whisked away by the back of my hand. She was like a fly quite honestly and I couldn't stand her constantly buzzing around. Whenever Link spent time with me she was flitting about taking it all in to share with Zelda. It reminded me of the time that I purposely planted one on him right in front of Navi just to get the point across. Clearly, that did a fat lot of good.
"Daaaaaaaaaaaark," she whined. I gritted my teeth at the sound of her tinny metallic voice. I lifted the sharpening stone to my shoulder, preparing to slam the fairy in between it and the ground. It would merely be one more thing to explain to Link, but right now all I wanted was some alone time. After all, he'd thank me later.
