The tranquility of the night was broken by the sound of branches and leaves crunching underfoot. The red-haired man kept his eyes ahead, keeping the horse galloping away through the forest. His eleven-year old son clung to his back tightly, trying to make sense of this sudden trip.

Lugonis nearly stopped the horse when he felt his son's tears on his back and the tightening of little hands on his shirt. "Albafica? What's wrong?"

"There's someone in the shadows, Father! He has black wings and long, white hair!"

"It's only the mist, Albafica. Don't pay any attention to it." Though he was nonchalant, Lugonis was internally panicking and urged the horse to run faster.

The boy in the shadows flew close to them with wings nearly invisible in the light. "You are such a beautiful boy," he whispered. "Come with me, and stay at my side. We'll have so much fun together."

"Father!" Albafica tugged at Lugonis' clothes to capture his attention. "Can't you hear him? He can be a new playmate for me!" The innocent little boy does not understand why his father would panic and deny the existence of someone he can clearly see.

"It's only the wind, Albafica. You must be sleepier than you realized."

"Come with me, my lovely. Your beauty will charm even the nymphs and I have servants that will wait on you, seeing to your every need."

"Father!" Albafica cried aloud. "There's more people in the shadows! Can you not see them?"

Lugonis barely spared a glance back. "It's only the willow branches shining in moonlight. Do not worry, Albafica."

"You are such a beautiful person. But if you won't come with me-" His expression turned dark as the horse sped up. "-I'll take you by force!" With one big push of those wings, he grabbed Albafica and swooped up. The boy barely had time to process what has happened before he found himself cradled in the arms of his admirer and inside a beautiful mansion where there were indeed many servants.

Meanwhile, Lugonis had finally arrived at his destination, at the base of a long set of stairs. Turning, his panicked eyes cannot find his child and he fell to the ground in mourning.
