Lettie's POV
"Mom?" The call of Sierra, Anne's daughter, rang out through the backstage area. She was being too loud yet again. The young blonde was running up and down the halls. She stopped at Lettie's dressing room and burst in. "Aunt Lettie! Where's mom?" Lettie sighed. "Sierra, how many times have we told you? No shouting when there's an audience." Sierra looked down. "Sorry. Oh, I almost forgot, Uncle Phinn wants to see you." At the mention of Phinn (aka P.T. Barnum), Lettie's mind raced back to the day he had shut them out in favor of fame. Ever since then, Lettie had been avoiding Phinn as much as possible. Now he had personally requested to see her. It seemed she had no choice. "Thank you, Sierra. Your mother is onstage warming up." Sierra raced off. Lettie took a deep breath, preparing herself for the mental anguish this would no doubt cause her, and headed for Phinn's office. When she got there, he wasn't in his office. Phillip informed her that he was outside feeding the elephants. As Lettie walked away, she sighed inwardly. Of course he had to be outside. She hated having private discussions outside. Once she was outside, She saw Phinn already waiting for her. She purposely avoided making eye contact. "What did you want to ask me?" Lettie mumbled. Phinn shook his head. "I wanted to tell you something." Lettie was surprised, butt allowed him to continue. "I wanted to say I'm sorry for what I did after Jenny Line's show. I will admit that I did it because I wanted the fame to myself. But I see now that it was wrong. I gave all of you an opportunity of not being disgraced, and I shut you out." Lettie could feel herself getting emotional. "Do you really mean it?" She asked. "I mean every word." He responded. Lettie threw her arms around him. "I'm sorry." He said again. Lettie smiled. The missing piece of her family was back.
