*I don't own any rights to the Percy Jackson series

Percy had messed up big time.

He and Annabeth were sitting cross legged on his couch, comparing college letters.

"Moment of truth…" Annabeth said. And with that she tore open the letter from Harvard. Percy saw her eyes scan the lines at lightning speed. She dropped the letter slowly and looked at Percy with a grin that said one thing.

"ACCEPTED!" Annabeth shrieked.

"That's great darling!" Percy said and he wrapped his arms around her. "Okay, my turn…" Percy got a letter from a local community college. He opened it and read each word deliberately.

'Dear Mr. Jackson. Upon review or your outstanding skills blah blah blah you seem great blah blah blah UNFORTUNATELY…"

Percy dropped the letter. Annabeth saw in his eyes what the letter had said.

"I'm sorry" she said.

"…yeah" Percy got off the couch, dodging Annabeth's sympathy hug. "Could I be any more of an idiot?"

"You're not an idiot, Percy."

"Whatever. Congratulations about Harvard." And with that, Percy walked into the kitchen, only thinking about his denial.

*three days later*

"PERCY! PERCY! PERCY!" Annabeth was banging on Percy's apartment door. When he got up and opened it she nearly knocked his face. He noticed a big manila envelope in her hands.

"I GOT ACCEPTED TO YALE!" She threw herself around Percy's neck and hugged him tightly.

"Cool, wish I could get accepted into a school." Percy said gloomily.

This is when he messed up. When he couldn't drop it and forget his own problems and be happy for Annabeth. And this made Annabeth mad, with every right to be. A fight ensued. Percy thought he was in the right, but that's because he was only thinking of himself. He wasn't thinking of how big and amazing this was for Annabeth or how happy he should be for her. He kept trying to pity himself by pointing out how stupid he felt, but Annabeth knew he wasn't. Annabeth just wanted Percy to be happy for her, but the fact that she had to fluff up Percy's ego hurt her more than Percy could ever see. He didn't see how selfish he was being or how stupid and childish he was acting. He should've known that when you're dating someone you love, you can't just put yourself before them all the time. You have to know that they have complex thoughts and feelings too and sometimes they just want someone to be happy for them.

So here he was now, all the way in California at Annabeth's front door. He knocked three times. She answered and looked at him with no surprise. Just anger.

"Annabeth…I'm so sorry."

Percy had no idea how this story was going to end. He just wanted Annabeth to know how sorry he was. How he wished he could go back in time and change it all. How much he cared for her. How much he swore he would never make her feel this way again.

"Sorry. And congratulations on your acceptance, I'm really happy for you.
