A/N: This is my first fic in the Bones section and this little sad one popped into my head as I was walking outside on a cold and dreary day. Hope you like.
It was dark and overcast outside as the little girl got out of the car. It was cold and the cemetery seemed so scary. She had been here many times, at least once a month since the funeral. She was only seven so she remembered only a little bit about her mom and dad.
She remembered the way her mommy would sing to her every night till she fell asleep.
She remembered how when she rode on her daddy's shoulders she felt like she could touch the sky.
She remembered the way they would smile at each other and at her and how they called her "Princess".
No, she couldn't remember everything, but she thought she remembered the important stuff. She loved Auntie who took care of her now, but she wasn't like Mommy. She didn't braid her hair like Mommy used to, she didn't laugh like Mommy used to, and she didn't cook Mac and Cheese like she did. Sure she tried, but she would never replace her.
As she arrived at the pale grey headstones she traced their names like always. Auntie Angela always let her do it her own way, gave her as much time as she needed. She remembered their last words to her, "We love you Lilac, and we'll see you after work."
They had both kissed her and left. That was the last time she had seen them.
Lilac Booth placed a rose on each of her parent's graves and said a small prayer.
She got up and blew a kiss to her Mommy like she always did. Before she left she sung the song her Mommy and Daddy had sung to her every night.
I'll Love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living,
My baby you'll be.
As Lilac walked back to the car she looked up into the sky, and for the first time that day, the sunlight broke through.
