Thanksgiving Cold
Thirteen year old Chloe Calls woke up feeling stuffed up and her throat was sore. She got up, put on her bathrobe, and headed downstairs.
When she got downstairs, she saw that the turtles were sleeping on the large air mattress. She went over to the sofa and lied down just as the turtles were waking up.
"You all right, Chloe?" Donny asked with concern and then sneezed.
"I'm not," Chloe whispered and pointed to her throat.
"I think we all came down with a cold," Leo said, sounding stuffed up.
Mikey let out a sneeze. Raph let out a series of coughs.
"This is the worst time to come down with a cold," Mikey complained.
"Especially since it's Thanksgiving," Raph said and then exploded into more coughs.
Just then, Grandma and Grandpa Calls entered the room. They noticed that Chloe and the turtles didn't look so good.
"You all look terrible," Grandpa Calls said.
Grandma Calls felt the turtles' foreheads and then Chloe's and said, "All of you are burning up."
"I would suggest staying in bed for today," Grandpa Calls suggested.
"I'll make some peppermint tea and some turkey soup since today's Thanksgiving," Grandma Calls said.
Chloe and the turtles nodded in agreement. Then Chloe's grandparents left the living room.
Chloe was sleeping on the sofa and the turtles were sleeping on the air mattress. Just then, Chloe's grandparents entered with a tray that had turkey soup and peppermint tea and then left the room.
Just then, Chloe woke up and got some tea. She slowly sipped on it so she wouldn't burn her mouth.
Eventually, the turtles woke up and noticed the tray with tea and soup. They got up, served themselves, and sat down while drinking the tea and eating the turkey soup.
"Good soup," Raph said.
"At least it's better than no turkey for Thanksgiving just because we all came down with a cold," Donny said.
"Not to mention the soup is good," Mikey said.
"Same with the peppermint tea," Leo said.
The turtles looked at Chloe who nodded in agreement. Her throat was still sore so it hurt for her to talk.
Just then, Grandma Calls entered with some cough syrup. She gave some to the turtles and Chloe using separate spoons.
Grandma Calls noticed that the tea had been drunk and the soup had been eaten. She gathered the dirty dishes, put them on the tray, and left the living room with it.
Later that evening, Chloe and the turtles were watching a teen movie. All of them were feeling much better and were drinking ginger ale and eating saltine crackers and turkey soup.
"This has been an interesting Thanksgiving," Chloe said, grateful that it no longer hurt to talk.
"I'm not used to having soup on Thanksgiving," Mikey said.
"I'm just glad we got turkey at all," Raph said.
"I'm thankful we have each other," Leo said.
"I couldn't agree more," Donny said.
Eventually, the movie ended and Chloe put it away. Then she and the turtles said good night to each other and headed upstairs to their bedrooms.
The End
