Dragonstone
"I see her in my dreams." she murmurs softly.
"Who? Who haunts your dreams Rhaella?"
She smiles, a bitter twisted thing that has no business lingering on such a beautiful face.
"My child. My Daenerys." her bony fingers drift towards her swollen belly and she shudders delicately.
Her eyes are like amethyst's as she gazes in the direction of the balcony, her nails scratching at the silky fabric draped over her skin.
"My Queen?" the kindly old man inquires, hesitantly touching a comforting hand to her shoulder.
She stiffens, and it's only then he realizes how terrified she really is.
"Fire." she mumbles. "I watch as she walks into the fire, no, glides. She glides, in a gown like our eyes. It hurts, I know she's dead. Must be. But, I smile."
Rhaella Targaryen turns to her oldest friend, confusion clear in the knit of her brows.
"Why? Why am I smiling?"
The poor man touches her hand and tries to soothe her, frightened she'll grow hysterical as the pain in her eyes would suggest.
"I don't know my queen."
"I am no queen. Not any longer."
He sighs, giving her hand a pat and standing up, pouring water into a goblet for her.
She doesn't bother to acknowledge it's there as he slides it in front of her, her fingers drumming against the firm skin of her belly.
"I don't understand this dream. I should be sad, I should be devastated. What mother smiles as they watch their child die?"
He had no answer for her.
"Have I become like him? I am the monster my brother was."
"No my queen." he jumps to his feet. "You could never be such a savage, never."
"Then why do I smile?!" she screams.
He frowns, sitting down beside her once more. "I do not know."
For the rest of their time together the room is silent and she wrestles the dream from her mind.
It's only later, as her life's blood leaks from her body and she's held her Daenerys but once that she sees the reason to her madness.
She sees her daughter step from the flames, unburt, bringing new life with her.
"She will be mother of dragons."
But her words are heard by no one, and her last breath is missed by all but the spirits that surround her.
