All's well that ends well
Supernatural 100 drabble challenge.
Summary: It doesn't happen often that Dean Winchester is spooked enough to leave in the midst of his favorite meal.
Assignment of the week: Use the name of a Shakespeare play in your drabble.
A/N: Thanks, Dizzo – what a glorious way to celebrate the Bard of Avon. My great love and admiration for him required 300 words – as humble as they are. Have fun counting the number of plays hidden in my lines.
"Dean, what's on? Something wrong with your burger? Looks medium rare to me, just as you like it."
"Sam, maybe we should bag the stuff and eat at the motel."
"Are you kidding? What's wrong?"
"I'd almost forgotten, but I've been in this hamlet before – when you were in Stanford."
"Aaaand?"
"I was hunting a werewolf. Son of a bitch killed a quarter of the cricket team. I nearly got him… full moon, romantic picnics at the small park around the corner, a midsummer night's dream, you know? Like a well-laid table for the sucker."
"Dean, you didn't use these people as…"
"I had to take my chances. I was hidden in the shrubs – pocket full of silver bullets, gun ready. Then there was that huge thunderbolt, as if an angel had taken a picture with a flashlight, and suddenly I was in the middle of a tempest. Something hit me, probably a fallen branch – and my lights went out."
"So you ended up at the hospital?"
"Not exactly. Two sisters found me and – err – tended to my needs."
"Is that so?"
"Quit smirking, chucklehead."
"I still don't understand the problem here – it wasn't the first time you found yourself some nurses."
"No, but it was the first time that I ended up with two very furious fiancés eager to beat the living shit out of me."
"Fiancés?"
"Yep. Henry the first, Richard the second. And I'm pretty sure one of them is standing there at the bar. NO! Don't you dare looking."
"Alright. Guess we gotta hurry before he goes Othello on you."
"What? Never mind. Let's bolt."
"Just one more thing."
"For crying out loud, Sammy!"
"What happened to the werewolf?"
"Turned out there wasn't a werewolf after all. Just the jealous coach of another hillbilly cricket team."
