Ranger Series Green was sad; not his usual self. Everyone was safe now. There were no villains to fight, no adventure that put his life in danger. Everything was good... humdrum.. boring.
The people in Corinth had thrown a party for the rangers to show their gratitude. There were refreshments, music, and games even. Everyone was enjoying the festivities. Everyone except Ziggy. Ziggy stood off to the side, observing. What is this feeling coming over me? He wondered.
Usually, he spent his time following Siren around. But, things felt different now. Siren was a mutual friend of the rangers. She'd begun hanging out with them after they saved her life at one point.
He watched as the red-headed girl sat and talked to his fellow rangers. She seemed completely oblivious...
Finally, Summer and Dillon made their way over to him. He was leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed.
"Come and join us! We're at the table in the back," Summer said. He quickly straightened up, uncrossing his arms nearly knocking over a nearby table. Dillon gave Ziggy this look that asked, "What's with you?"
He followed them reluctantly through the crowd. There was an empty seat next to Siren, so he took it. She looked at him and smiled. He smiled back and then returned his gaze into nothingness as the crowd around them seemed to disappear into their own social world of activities. There was going to be a toast and speech for the rangers. Everyone directed their attention to the front of the building where the speech was being given. Everyone except Ziggy.
He leaned a little closer to Siren, breathing in her hair. Her eyes were towards the front of the festitival, listening intently. She didn't notice him closing his eyes as he breathed in the scent of her. She didn't notice until something caught the corner of her eye.
She slowly turned to him, catching him in the act. He quickly leaned back straightening himself in his chair, and directed his gaze downward. He suddenly became very interested in the table cloth lining.
Suddenly, she grabbed the back of his head and pulled his face to hers, kissing him with overwelming passion. Her hands went through his hair, messing it up as she kissed him. He froze as she did this. She pulled back, and with her hand she gently nudged his face. She silently laughed at his reaction. Pressing her forehead to his, she closed her eyes and said, "I had no idea what you were sad about...But I'm glad I figured it out."
"Me too," He said. He was short of breath.
Non-chalantly, she returned her attention to the speech just in time for everyone to toast. They all cheered and then a few of the rangers noticed Ziggy sitting there with a shocked expression on his face. His hair was sticking out all over. Ziggy shook his head and was beaming for the first time in days. Scott smiled, knowingly. So did a few other people.
It was time to leave for home, and as the crowd thinned out, Ziggy stopped Siren outside the building.
"Hey, y'know what we did earlier? ...can we do that again?"
She smiled and grabbed his hand, pulling him down the alleyway where no one could see. The smell of his leather jacket was intoxicating to her as she began kissing him passionately. He was shivering at first but then soon he kissed back with more passion than ever and actually took over by turning her around against the wall.
