And after the millionth come-on, she looked at him but in a pondering sort of way, this time.
As they walked towards the TARDIS, the sun began to set in the meadow. Feeling adventurous, she decided to react differently for a change and, at least, say something about his obnoxious behavoir. What was the line this time? She couldn't even remember and yet she wanted to slap that "I'm cute and you know it" grin off of his face.
"Come now, Doctor," she started, "What would you do if one day I actually took you up on one of your little advances. I wonder..." She said almost scornfully, not expecting a response as they slowed to look at the sun setting in the distance.
"Oh I think you know exactly what I'd do..." he muttered in his usual chipper-like manner,as he gazed out at the scenery. Raising an eyebrow, he smiled to himself.
It was all very comedic and the situation was just to be taken lightly as always when the conversation got into this subject. Her job was to just laugh it off and think to herself, "Oh what a silly tease he is."
But she wanted to know for sure this time. Weeks ago, she figured she could be just as obnoxious and annoying as he is so she had began to blatantly ignore all of his advances rather than acknowledge them with a fake giggle like she use to. However, this made him persist even more with his flirty comments. After a while she got to a point where she felt that if he wasn't serious, then she would rather he cut it out.
"You think I'm kidding."
She looked up. He'd been staring at her, watching the usual look of disbelief that had been on her face as she had been sort of spacing out.
His tone was serious. And it was because of this that she decided it would be funny to keep acting completely oblivious about the whole thing.
"I'm sure I don't know what you mea-"
"My "little advances" as you put it, are completely valid!"
He reached out and touched her cheek with his hand for a moment. She looked at him wondering where he was going with this.
He removed his hand and said the next words as if they were something he decided upon long ago as he moved in closer to her, "And always will be." He said this as serious as he possibly could. His eyes were too much. Dark and intense. She finally felt the passion he had for her. Or at least she thought she did. She had this overwhelming desire to kiss him, which made her feel weak and pathetic; a slave to emotion, like a love-sick puppy.
"Proove it." She whispered, barely audible. She could not believe her own words.
His eyes lit up and he smiled very big.
