Disclaimer: I don't own FMA, though I seriously wished I did. I'd do what it said in the first page of the Omake section of the first volume of FMA manga: switch protagonists and rename the series "Flame Alchemist". Maybe it's a bad idea to give me control over something like that….
IMBSA: Warning: Spoiler for ep 25 (I think). Yeah, as if we all didn't know what happened, sheesh.

She could never lie to him.
No matter how impassive, how emotionless she kept her face, Roy Mustang could always tell when his First Lieutenant was lying. Something in those beautiful, bewitching dark eyes would dim, and a lovely shade of brown would cover her iris, before suddenly lightening and fading away. It was what he always looked for when he thought she was lying. That shadowing always told him the truth when it seemed Riza Hawkeye could not do it herself. He hated that something so enchanting could be the harbinger of something so potentially destructive.
He knew when she lied and when she told the truth, and he knew that the former was a rare occurrence, something he both loved and hated.
So when he, out of the blue, asked Riza if she needed a shoulder to cry on for Maes's death, he could tell just by looking in her eyes that she was lying when she answered, "No."

IMBSA: Sigh. So ends my first FMA fic. Just so you know, I am reading the manga online (I'm currently on the chapter after Maes's death) and trying to keep up with the TV show on Adult Swim (I'm on "The Night of the Chimera's Cry" or something like that), so my knowledge is not as extensive as I'm usually comfortable with, so keep that in mind. Thankies, and R&R!
