IDIL's Note: Hey all! So I'm doing this ObiRin because, after seeing the animated version of Kakashi Gaiden, I may declare myself an official convert. XD I still love KakaRin for its angst potential, but ObiRin tops it for fluff potential, which is currently what I'm really into. XP So hope you enjoy, and maybe I'll even make a conver out of you, ne? ;)
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto. If I did, Obito would still be alive.
Obito's mother had always told him that love was pink, however Obito had a feeling that it was really purple.
That was why one day, when she repeated the statement again, Obito decided to inquire: "Why?"
"Why what?" his mother had confusedly responded.
"Why is love pink? What makes it pink?" The stubborn 7-year-old persisted.
"Ah, well…" Uchiha Nonaka lifted her hand to her chin, deep in thought about how to best explain herself to her young son. "Pink is the colour that is most often associated with the heart and love; it's the colour of chocolate boxes and decorations and romance novels…it's the colour found commonly in wedding bouquets, and it's the colour your face turns when you're around your special person," she smiled down at him.
"Eh…Okaa-san…demo…I think that love should be purple," he declared, convinced sure as ever that he was right.
"Obito?"
"It should be purple!" the boy flared his arms around wildly, trying to convey his frustration at what he believed was an egregious error on his mother's behalf. "It's purple, I know it! I know it because…! Because that's the colour card I got for Valentine's…it's the colour of a special marker I have…the colour of a teddy bear I gave away on White Day…it's the colour I see when I get that funny feeling in my tummy" – he paused and looked down thoughtfully at his stomach, placing his hand over it as he tried to recall the feeling – "and the colour of all the most beautifulset things in the world! Like butterflies and those happy faces sensei gives us on our tests when we do well! Like the candy we get when we behave and those flowers that come every spring and give people hope! Love can't be pink! It just can't!"
Obito panted, out of breath after his rant about love's colour, and his mother smiled as she saw how much passion was visible in his onyx eyes. As soon as he regained his breath however, Obito decided to finalize his argument with one indisputable (or at least, what he believed to be indisputable) fact: "I just know it! I know that love is purple because it's the colour of Rin-chan!"
"A, so desu ka! You must really like Rin-chan, ne Obito?" His mother chuckled lightly as her son blushed a bright shade of pink. "Haha, it's ok," she patted him on the head, still laughing to herself; her son could be so cute at times. "Everyone might say that love is pink, but we know the real truth, ne Obito? We know that love is purple," she winked down at him.
His blush disappeared as he broke out into a grin, pumping his fist into the air triumphantly. "Yeah, yeah! We know it! Love is definitely purple!"
