A/N: So I was watching Sleeping beauty and this little one shot popped into my head. Please no harsh or rude comments. Thank you.

It's just little things at first. Little things that she think she might like, well what she thinks a little girl might like. A hair brush, a gold necklace. It's almost like she can just go home and give it to her.

She selects the room next to hers, the one with a secret panel in between and she starts to decorate. Its therapeutic, to think that one day her daughter will come home and live in this room. It's almost like she didn't have her yet and this was the nursery. The real nursery was locked.

At night she sneaks into the bedroom and picks up the comb and imagines running it through her daughter's hair. Her long blonde beautiful hair with soft curls, at least that's what she imagines. The maid will strike up a fire and just when the maid is about to brush Aurora's hair, she will step in. Aurora will smile a gorgeous smile and giggle a little and talk to her mother about, well, everything. They'll talk about upcoming balls and dresses made of the finest fabric, they'll talk of princes, and babies, and weddings, everything.

The Queen smiles as she imagines their nightly talks by the fire.

The next day the king informs her that when Aurora comes home she will be married and will live in a castle of her own. He looks down at the floor and rubs his head and says he couldn't do anything to stop it. And she can't stop herself from running to her daughter's bedroom and sobbing out great big tears. Just when she was about to get her baby back she was stolen again.

The day she is to come home the Queen waits in the front hall, running her necklace back and forth. She combed her hair 10 times this morning and had her lady's maid do it up as if it was her coronation day. The doors finally open a little before sunset and she sees the three fairies that she entrusted her daughter's life to. She smiles and tears rush to her eyes but she pushes them back. The girl stands with her cloak on until one of the fairies coaxes her in to taking it off.

The Queen runs to her and smiles.

"Aurora." She says and a tear runs down her face. The young girl looks at her with a pained expression.

"Please, I would just like to lie down." The girl mutters to the fairies and they soon escort her away.

"Make sure you put her in her room!" The Queen yells down the hall. She runs to her own chambers and tries to force herself to smile. Her daughter is home, she can finally get to know her and see her and… her smile fades. The realization dawns on her, that while she has been imagining her daughter for what seems like ages her daughter has only found out about her this morning. Her daughter was perfectly content with her life this morning and despises the one she will now led.

That is as good as despising her mother.

The next week after Aurora is married and Maleficent is defeated the Queen goes to the market and buys a gold ribbon for her daughter's hair and lies it on the dressing table she has spent 16 years preparing. The dressing table which she might just spend the rest of her life preparing.

Preparing for the daughter that will never come.
