This is my first fanfiction ever so if you can, please give feedback and constructive criticism. This is a short Solangelo oneshot and a mortal AU. Nico and Will are around sixteen and seventeen.

Disclaimer: I don't own Percy Jackson

Nico stared at the night sky with a look of awe. The Ferris wheel slowly took him higher and higher into the sky and for once, he didn't feel uncomfortable or out of place. For once, he felt like he had a place, that he belonged.

Belonged. He hadn't thought of that word in a long time. At least, not since his older sister, Bianca, had died in a car accident. Not since he had been bullied practically all his life for being gay. But now, here he was - in the middle of a fair with Will Solace, of all the people in the world.

He cast a quick glance at Will - who was sat across him. Will was also admiring the view of the fair, a faraway look in his sky blue eyes. With a smile tugging at the ends of his lips, Nico turned back to stare at his view of the fair. He looked down at the people milling around, the excited kids running towards the other rides and their parents following closely behind. When the Ferris wheel lowered them down, he could see a couple sitting on a bench. Their silhouettes moving closer to each other.

The Ferris wheel took off once more into the sky. Nico smiled to himself, glad that he was here. Glad that Will was here with him. Which was quite odd, considering that Nico would have never thought that he would even talk to the blond, let alone ride a Ferris wheel with him. He would have never thought that Will would come up to him in the hallway during school to ask if he would accompany him to the fair.

And he certainly wouldn't have ever thought that he would say yes to such a question, or that skeletal butterflies would dance in his stomach during the whole conversation. But then again, life does have a funny way of working out.

"The view's absolutely amazing," Nico finally said, although he had a feeling that he was just stating the obvious. His eyes were still fixed on the colorful lights illuminating brightly from the other rides in the fair.

"Yeah," He heard Will say, "Amazing,"

Nico's eyes were still fixed on the view before him. In fact, Nico was so focused with the scenery that he didn't even notice that Will was looking at him when he had responded. He hadn't noticed the amount of affection that Will's eyes held when they were focused on Nico. He hadn't noticed how Will softened every time Nico took a glance back at him. He hadn't noticed how Will nearly tripped when he had asked Nico to accompany him to the fair. But then again, Nico never really was one for observing.
