The Mysterious Girl from Inuyasha's Past
As Inuyasha, Kagoma, Maroku, Shippo, and Sango wandered through a forest, Inuyasha stopped suddenly.
"We're being followed," he said. As soon as he said it, a fire sprung up in front of him. The fire died down to reveal a woman. This woman had a large flame instead of hair and small flames on her fingertips.
"It's about time," she said. "I've been trailing you for three days. If I didn't know any better, I'd say your senses are going, Inuyasha."
"Who are you," he asked.
"Did being pinned to a tree for 50 years mess up your memory or something, Inuyasha?"
"That's Fala," Meoga said. "The fire demon." Sango heard him.
"A demon, huh? Let's see what she can do." She threw her boomerang. Fala caught it and it caught fire.
"Don't mess with me. I could burn this thing to a crisp."
"I know Fala only by reputation," Meoga said. "But she is not to be toyed with. She is very strong."
"I only come to help. I hear you are in search of jewel shards, and I happen to know where several are."
"She has a jewel shard," Kagoma whispered. "I can feel it." Inuyasha pretended not to hear.
"Where are the jewel shards, if you're so smart?" he asked.
"First of all, you're walking in the wrong direction. Second of all, you guys must have come this close to it and not seen it." She held up her fingers about an inch apart. "Let's go already!" They began to walk. That night, Fala was sleeping in a tree next to Inuyasha's. She heard a voice in her mind.
"Do it now!" it said.
"I can't, they'll get suspicious!" she replied. When they woke up, Fala was cheerful. She went happily along with them all day. But that night, the voice returned.
"Now!" it said simply.
"Fine!" She jumped down and lightly tapped each of Kagome's arrows. Then she slowly pulled out the jewel shard and slid it into her fiery hair.
