"MATTHEW DANIEL CASEY! WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?" Matt winced internally at the sound of Hank Voight's shout. He was pissed. Not that he could blame him. He had taken a big risk by going to that house, but he had felt like he had no choice.
"Hank, I-" Can't believe he just stormed in here and just pulled me into my office like this, he thought to himself. Wait. Scratch that. Yes, he could. Hank tended to get a little irrational when he was in "angry father" mode and he was in that mode now, hence the man yelling at him like he was once again a fifteen-year old who had gotten caught sneaking back into the house.
"NO! WHAT HAVE I TOLD YOU ABOUT UNACCEPTABLE RISKS?"
"Don't take them."
"DAMN RIGHT YOU DON'T TAKE THEM! YOU WENT INTO-"
"The guy reminded me of Cordone!" Hank stopped and sighed, rubbing his face with a hand. Cordone. Of course it would all come back to him. "He had the same body language and the girl was terrified," he continued.
"What if Rojo had used the machete on the girl even with the smoke created by the extinguishers? What if he tried to use the machete on you?" the sergeant pointed out.
"You're right. It was stupid, but I couldn't just let her get lost in the system."
"You don't know that she would've." Hearing this, the Truck Lieutenant sighed and nodded. He was right. He didn't.
"I'm sorry."
"I know. And I'm sorry for yelling."
"You were just worried."
"Damn right I was. Don't pull a crazy stunt like that again or I'll take you over my knee." And I will. Like I told him when I first did it to him, don't care how old he is, not gonna stand for him making stupid choices, he thought to himself.
"You haven't done that since I came in plastered after high school grad."
"Doesn't mean I won't." At this, Matt nodded. He knew Hank was serious: he would spank him if he did something so foolhardy again. Satisfied that his point had been made, Hank walked out of the room and left the station. Matt sighed and sat down in his chair. That had been embarrassing. But he had deserved it. He acted foolishly. He could've been killed. He then gave himself a mental shake and went to start on some paperwork. Hopefully, he would never have to go through a scolding like that again…
