Prologue
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto
Sakura watched in horror as the sword that was meant to stab her instead stabbed her best friend, Ino's scarlet blood marking both her and Sakura. With a yell of fury, Sakura punched him and knocked him a few miles away. Gently pulling the katana out of Ino, Sakura started to try to help. Thrusting medical chakra into her hands, Sakura desperately tried to save her best friend. "Don't go, don't go, don't go! Stay here! Remember that flower field we always used to visit? We can go again! We can talk and make each other flower headbands like we used to! I was never as good at it as you are, but I can try! Come on Ino you can't give up! We still have so much to do! You can't die now! You can't!" Sakura took a shaky breath as tears started rolling down her cheeks.
"Sakura, stop." Ino said softly. Ignoring Ino's request, Sakura continued. Ino grabbed her hands. "Sakura listen, you know as well as I do that I'm going to die. I refuse to have you die trying to save a lost cause!" Ino cried, tears streaming down her pale, blood marked face. "Sakura, no matter what you will always be my best friend. I'll tell Asuma sensei hello for you, promise. Also, tell Shikamaru that not everything is troublesome and that I'm proud of him, tell Choji that I'm proud of him as well and that he is an amazing ninja. Tell Hinata that I wish her and Naruto the best. Sakura promise!" Ino hacked up some blood as she lifted up her bloody pinky finger.
Sakura lifted up her pinky finger too and then they pinky promised for the very last time. "Sakura, goodbye." Then for the last time, Ino's blue eyes closed. Sakura… Ino thought. Sakura's eyes widened. "Ino wake up! Wake up! Stop joking this isn't funny! Wake up!" Gently, Sakura shook Ino's shoulders. She then checked her pulse. There wasn't any. "No! This isn't true! You're just playing tricks on me right Ino? Ino? You can't go too! You can't! First my parents, then Lee and Kakashi sensei, not you too! Don't leave! Please! Stay!"
Sakura's body was wrecked with uncontrollable tremors. She tightly grasped at the dirt with her hands, fingers clenching the damp soil. Memories of Ino thrust into Sakura's mind. "Hi! I'm Ino Yamanaka! Here! You look much better with that ribbon on! Don't try to hide your forehead! Embrace it! Sakura you're a bud waiting to bloom and who knows? The flower you become might be even more beautiful than the cosmos! We'll be best friends forever I know it! Pinky swear!" They linked fingers. "There, perfect! Now from this moment forward we'll be best friends!"
With each passing memory Sakura's body shook and cried uncontrollably until she let out her feelings in a scream that stopped when she passed out.
7-7-7
When Sakura woke up, she knew she was in the hospital. She's been there enough times to know the smell and environment. She sat up and grimaced. Her head hurt, probably from all the crying. Curling into the fetal position, all she wanted to do was cry. Why did things have to turn out this way? If only things were different. The wheels in Sakura's head turned until something clicked and she had a plan.
With newfound determination, Sakura changed out of the bland hospital gown she had been wearing and changed back into the clothes she had been wearing. Shortly after she jumped out of the window and started heading towards the Hokage tower. After knocking on the door and walking in, Sakura looked Tsunade straight in the eyes and asked, "Tsunade, is it possible to time travel?"
Tsunade nearly dropped her sake glass. "Why would you ask a question like that?" she replied. "Because the present timeline isn't good and you know it. We're in a war and have sustained severe losses." Sakura answered.
"To answer your question there is a forbidden jutsu that requires you to drop your blood on a certain scroll but the catch is that you would only have one chance at this. Immediately after you drop your blood on the scroll it will disintegrate while you are pulled back in time. After doing this though, there is no chance of coming back to this exact timeline. Even if you do nothing, something will change regardless." Tsunade explained.
"If we did do this though, you would have to achieve approval from the counsel and me. In my opinion, If it benefits the village and you are completely okay with it and can handle it physically it shouldn't be a problem. Let's go to the counsel." Tsunade added.
After The Meeting
To Tsunade and Sakura's surprise, the counsel hesitantly agreed to send her back. After that, Sakura told her friends Ino's last words and said goodbye. Carefully, Tsunade took the old scroll out of the safe and put it down in front of Sakura while asking, "Are you sure you want to do this?" Sakura nodded and then deliberately cut her hand, the scarlet drop of blood hitting the scroll. "Okay, I wish you luck, goodbye, also, another thing, If you die while back in time, this timeline will reset and then you will be dead here." Tsunade hurriedly added before Sakura was pulled back in time. Right as the scroll disintegrated, Sakura was starting to transport and the last thing she remembered before being thrust back in time was Tsunade's last hurriedly said words.
A/N: Hi everyone! I hope you all like the prologue. Sorry if it's a bit short. I will try to update this story and my other story, One Small Change every two weeks. Sorry if that's longer than what you prefer. Bye!
