An idea I had and wrote down back when book 5 was released.

Ron sat depressed. Hermione was out with Krum again. Oh, how he loathed that guy! Ron watched the fire, the anger in his eyes burning as wildly as the fire before him.

Hermione entered the common room and saw Ron gazing at the fireplace, a look of sadness and anger in his eyes. He hadn't seen her come in.

She sighed. She had had a terrible time with Viktor. All she could think about was Ron.

"What's wrong?" Hermione asked.

Ron jumped out of his skin. He didn't know anybody was still up, especially not in the common room. He looked for the voice. It was her.

"Blimey, Hermione! You nearly scared me to death!"

"Sorry." She smiled with apology, a light blush dusting her cheeks. Ron softened at the sight. How could he ever remain angry at that smile. The blush, however, went unnoticed by the oaf of a boy.

"What's wrong?" Hermione repeated, like a parrot. Ron looked back at the fire for a few seconds before responding, "I'm depressed."

"Oh. Well, why?"

"I….I like this girl. She's unlike any girl I have ever met. But I don't think she fancies me the way I fancy her. I mean, well, why would she? It's me, Ron, just Ron."

"That's ridiculous, Ron!"

Hermione's heart ached. She wanted to be the girl he fancied. She wanted to be the one he was depressed about. She wanted to be unlike any girl he had ever met.

"Why wouldn't a girl like you, Ron? I mean, well, for starters….you're a Gryffindor. You're brave, nice, rather funny, a lot more intelligent than you give yourself credit…" she rambled.

Ron got lost in her speech. He loved when she rambled, babbling on and on. His gaze shifted from her warm eyes to her moving lips. Her moist, plump lips. How he wanted to kiss those lips, to taste them.

He snapped out of it. If Hermione caught him staring, he'd never hear the end of it. He started nodding to every thing she said.

"…And not to mention handsome beyond belief." She added.

He nodded. Wait! What?

Hermione turned scarlet at the realisation of what she said.

"So….Where did Harry get to tonight?" she asked, changing the subject.

"On a date with Ginny."

"I see. So? W-Who's the girl?"

"What?"

"The girl you like. Who is it?"

Ron turned beet red. He fell silent then kissed her cheek.

"Sorry. It's just—the girl—I like—is-is you."

"It's alright, Ron. But next time, don't miss." She said, kissing him full on the lips.

"Finally!" another voice said.

Near the common room door, Ginny and Harry stood hand in hand, along with Colin Creevy.

"Already took the photo, I did. You've got one wizard picture of your first kiss. Not a lot of people can say that now can they?!"

Other Gryffindors gathered, gaping at the two. They then erupted into a roar of applause, which was accompanied by wolf whistles and the whole lot.

Ron and Hermione just sat there, faces burning hotter than hell itself.
