One More Night

Disclaimer: I don't own RWBY.

The fractured moon shone clearly over the city of Vale. Glynda had a good view of it from the cliff. She still remembered all those nights she would come out here with... her. The mere thought of her made Glynda frown and shake her head. She hated having to think about her.

Just then, the familiar clacking of high-heels reached her ear. For a moment, she thought she was just imagining it, but she knew it was real. She knew it was her.

The clacking stopped. "Glynda." That voice. That voice that once made her so happy. Now it just makes her sad. Sad and angry.

She turned and stood face to face with her. Cinder Fall. The woman she loved. The woman she hated. "What do you want?" She spat, gripping her riding crop firmly.

Cinder raised her hand. "Just to talk."

"Isn't it a little late for that?" Glynda was angry. She felt betrayed. After all this time they had been together, to learn it had all been a lie... She was livid. "You lied to me! Everything you said was a lie!"

"Not everything, Glynda," Cinder replied, sorrow evident in her voice. "Not everything."

Glynda calmed down a bit. "Maybe not." She had to remain firm. "What do you want?"

"I already told you."

"No. What are you planning to do? Torchwick, the White Fang. What are you trying to accomplish?"

Cinder looked around, pondering her answer. It took a while before she spoke up. "Change, Glynda. I plan to change the world."

"To what end? What kind of a world are you trying to create?"

"One where huntsmen and huntresses aren't used like weapons. One where families and friends aren't torn apart because of petty grievances. One that isn't ruled by liars."

Glynda took a moment to process this, then she laughed. It was a quiet, humorless and bitter laugh. "That's funny, Cinder."

"What is?"

Glynda gave her a stern look. "You want to create a world where people aren't used, yet you throw the White Fang into battle like cannon fodder. One that isn't ruled by liars, yet you yourself are the greatest liar of all. You want to create a world where family and friends aren't torn apart. So tell me, Cinder. What about us?"

A pained expression ran across Cinder's face. "What I'm about to do is going to change the world forever. I spent years planning for this. What we had... wasn't expected. It wasn't part of the plan. And I can't allow it to interfere."

"So that's it then? It's just over?"

"That's why I'm here," Cinder said as she slowly approached Glynda. "I wanted to ask you..." Glynda took a step back and pointed her riding crop at Cinder as a warning not to come closer. Cinder stopped and looked into Glynda's eyes. "One more night." Glynda's eyes widened in surprise. "All I'm asking is to spend one more night with you."

"You can't be serious."

"I am, Glynda," she said as she continued towards the blonde woman. "One more night for us to forget about the world. One more night for us to forget about all duties, obligations and loyalties. One more night for..." she slowly raised her hand and cupped Glynda's cheek. "...us."

They were staring deep into each others eyes. Slowly, Glynda raised her hand and placed it upon Cinder's. Then, she closed her eyes to savor the feeling.

After a short while, she opened her eyes. "One night," she looked into Cinder's eyes, "no more."

Cinder nodded, wrapping her arm around Glynda's waist, pulling her closer. Cinder could feel her heart beating through her chest.

Tears started pooling into her eyes as she realized this was it. One look into Glynda's emerald orbs showed her the same thing. A single tear was making it's way down her cheek. Cinder gently caressed her with her thumb. And for a single moment, they smiled again. Not wanting to lose this moment, Cinder quickly pulled Glynda in for a deep, passionate kiss.

One more night, before the end.
