Disclaimer: Sorry rich law students, I am not making ANY money out of this
. . . J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. owns everything, except Lana.
Summary: Ron and Hermione have been together since Hogwarts . . . so who dares to compete with him?
A/N: Hey! I've been work overloaded lately, but hopefully this fic will be worth the wait! It will be longer than 'Serpent's Sting', and features an original character of mine, Lana, though she is only minor in this story. If you like her, I will base an idea for a fic of mine on her. As always, read and review!
ENJOY!!
'Footsteps in the Dark'
Chapter 1: Distant Pitter-Patters
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
She's beautiful. Her eyes closed, long eyelashes just touching the soft skin under her eyes. Her gentle smile so angelic, and hair messily arranged around her face in the way that it always seems to. I thank God every time I see her, how could I deserve someone like her? I hug her tightly, protecting her from any nonexistent danger, and barely brush my lips against her forehead. With that, I am safe to close my eyes in bliss, she is here. My Hermione; my salvation.
"Ron, hon, could you get eggs, milk, and a couple of salamander legs from Diagon Alley on your way home from work? We are running low . . ." Hermione spit out from between rushed bites of a bagel, trying unsuccessfully to read the Daily Prophet and button up her shirt at the same time.
Ron smiled, took the bagel and put it down on a napkin, and held the newspaper out in front of her face. "Of course I will. Why don't you be late, for once? It really isn't that big of a deal. Kingsley will understand, he is the easiest Auror trainer of the five!"
Hermione just looked at Ron like he was crazy. "Be LATE? Ron, honestly, can you even imagine ME, of ALL PEOPLE, being late to such an important lesson as Stealth?"
Ron just sighed, excepting defeat, and buttered his toast. "Fine, fine, but you have to promise me that when you get home from training you take a couple hours just to relax. Take a bath or something! Anything! Just have a couple hours for your pleasure."
"I guess that won't be that bad," Hermione muttered, touching her daily planner with her wand, marking 4-6 pm as "Relaxation Time". Ron chuckled to himself . . . planning relaxation was so Hermione.
"Great job, Hermione! Minerva wasn't joking when she said that you learned this whole list of Secrecy and Stealth Spells. They weren't even on the NEWTS! Because your doing so well, would you mind tutoring a new student that will be secretly in this training program? You will need to catch him up, but because you are so far ahead, this won't be too much of a problem. What do you say?" Kingsley Shacklebolt's voice boomed, but because they were the only two persons in the room, it didn't matter. He had slightly aged, but not enough to lessen his imposing stature.
"I would be glad to! When do I get to meet him?" Hermione was delighted that the spells she had so diligently studied seventh year were finally paying off. Besides, she had always wanted to try her hand at teaching a bit.
"Actually, right now." A slight smile crossed Kingsley's face that confused Hermione, and he opened a door to his left. "You may have already met, but Hermione, meet your pupil . . . Draco Malfoy!"

A/N: Very short chapter, I know, but I figured that this was a good a time as any to leave off. I know that everybody hates cliffies, and so do I, but :sigh: this one was necessary. Read and review! The next chapter should be up by the weekend, if my teachers are merciful.
