Sweet Misery

The pallor of her face became more and more pronounced as she heaved the final push. Looking up she saw the eyes of her husband filled with tears as her life gushed out of her with the ordeal. All color had been wiped away yet she looked down at the child lying against her breast. Her little girl, Sabrina, with the face of her mother and the beginning of hair the colors of her fathers, her eyes were dark in pigment and probably will become obsidian. Hermione attempted to push herself up but only could wave her hand to bring Severus down to her side; she brought his lips to hers and gave him their final kiss. It was weak yet held all her love for him and all the time they had had. Whispering to him, she looked him in the eyes, "Severus my love, take care of our child."

Severus looked down at her as the utter wrenching pain grasped his heart, "Always my love, Always." He placed her hand in his only to slowly feel the hand go limp as her eyelids fell and all life was drained from her body.

Sweet Misery, yet in his arms was the symbol of their love. With that thought Sabrina opened her eyes and seemed to smile up at her father, a smile so much like Hermione's.
