"There's a shield in your hand, block with it! If this man were your enemy, you'd be dead," Cullen called after a pair of recruits. The Inquisition had finally began to attract a following after the Herald recruited the Templars into their ranks. Cullen would be forever grateful that she risked her life to save the Order. He smiled at the thought of her. Cullen also felt a strange feeling he had never once felt before. Surprised and confused, he snapped back to reality. A group of soldiers were standing around, whispering, when Cullen approached.
"What are you all doing? Don't you have work to do?" Cullen asked.
"We're watching the Herald train." one of the soldiers responded without looking at him, without looking away from her. Jealousy pulsed through his veins as he looked up to see what was going on. Cullen pushed through the group so he could find her.
"I don't know about it, boss. You're a little heavy to be throwing around," Iron Bull protested.
"You can do it, Bull! Just throw me as high as you can get me. Think about all of the MAYHEM!" Trevelyan called from Iron Bull's shoulders with an enormous grin on her lips.
Iron Bull pulled Trevelyan down from his shoulders and adjusted his stance, "MAYHEMMM!" he cried.
"Once we train on this enough, we can actually use this in the field!" Trevelyan paused, "I don't want to be thrown into a group of enemies, just through and behind them."
Recruits ran towards Iron Bull and gathered in a semicircle around him to watch.
"Hey! Stop, Bull! You're going to hurt her!" Cullen screamed at the top of his lungs. Fear shook him to his core, what if Iron Bull dropped her?! Eyes wide, anxiety gripping him, Cullen couldn't move from his spot.
Trevelyan heard Cullen's protests, but she threw an agitated look at Iron Bull so he would know to keep going. At that very second, Iron Bull turned and flung her with every ounce of his strength. Trevelyan's long brown wisped violently behind her as she soared. As soon as Trevelyan felt herself begin to fall back to the ground, she released a dozen arrows that traveled in all directions and flipped, gracefully, away from them.
"MAYHEM!" Iron Bull screamed as he jumped up and down with his arms in the air.
"Mayhem!" Trevelyan yelled as she hit the ground. Recruits stared in awe; Cullen being one of them. Without a seconds pause, Trevelyan gently tucked her hair behind her ears and slung her bow over her shoulders.
Iron Bull ran over to Trevelyan, "That was awesome! I honestly didn't think I would be able to get you high enough. Are you OK?"
She looked confused for a moment, "Of course I'm okay. Why do you ask?"
"Because of that," Iron Bull quickly turned to look at Cullen who was walking towards them, looking more like an angry bear than a soldier.
Trevelyan quickly raised up her hands in submission, "Sorry Cullen. I've been dying to try that. I just couldn't resist."
Cullen was furious, "You could have killed her, Bull." Bull was about to respond but Cullen quickly started again, "What if she had landed on her neck. Then we'd be in this wonderful situation without our Herald. Without someone to close these rifts OR the breach!"
Bull looked down at the ground, clearly upset that he had let Trevelyan influence his decision making process, "Sorry, Cullen. It won't happen again."
"Come on guys! Lighten up! Worse case scenario; I die and the Maker sends another Herald to save the day!" she giggled and looked back at all of the recruits staring at her, "As you were, soldiers." She bowed and quickly hustled out of the spotlight.
Cullen watched her run away and sighed to himself. Iron Bull caught onto Cullen's expression, "So," he paused for a second, "when are you gonna tell her you love her?"
