Winter Fun:
"What are you waiting for, love?" Connor questioned, pulling on gloves, for once covering up his fingers.
"I've never played in the snow…" Abby admitted.
"What?" His eyes went wide and his voice was a bit of a squeak. "Never played in the snow?"
"Nope," She shrugged. She didn't see it as terribly weird, but Connor seemed to think so.
"How old are you again?"
"Twenty six."
"You have been deprived of everything fun in life! You haven't lived Abigail! Oh my god!"
"Is it that exciting?"
"Yes! It's one of the most exciting things in the history of mankind!"
"I've only seen it in films, what can you do?"
"Sledding, snowball fights, snow angels, snowmen building, snow castles, snow forts, catching snowflakes with our tongues, and then my favorite part afterwards is changing into our pyjamas and cuddle up by the fire,"
"We don't have a fireplace," She pointed out, laughing.
"Well-we'll cuddle up by the stove, but come on! Before it stops snowing, get on as many coats and trousers as you can!"
Abby stared at it cautiously as Connor ran jumping into the whiteness.
"Abs, come on!"
"It's cold."
"It's snow! Now get your arse over here!" He laughed, jumping on her back lightly.
She made a disgruntled noise as she tumbled into the snow.
"So, who made you miss out on the snow as a child?"
"Dad didn't like me be outside much, never got to play, really." She shrugged.
"Well, that was rude!"
"He was a very rude man," She said.
"You'll never have to deal with him again, don't worry!" Connor grinned. "What do you want to do first? Snow angels are easy and quick-so we can do that!"
"Um sure…"
"Everyone in the world can do it, so don't tell me you can't do it, Abby."
She smiled and plopped down on the ground with him, moving her arms and legs back and forth. When they stood, Connor grinned.
"Eh, I think you're a more beautiful angel." He poked her nose and gave her a gentle kiss.
"Aw," She giggled. "What next?"
He smirked, grabbing a handful of snow and tossing it her way. Abby shuddered, throwing some more his way.
"I hope you know that I was the best snowball fighter in me neighborhood!" He called. "I won the championship so try to beat me if you can!" Connor laughed, ducking behind trees, diving and throwing as much snow as fast as he could at her.
"Cold! It's cold!" She screamed, chasing after him, kicking him lightly knocking him over.
"Listen Abs, this-this isn't snowball fightin'." He poked her shoulder, trying to get her to budge off of him.
She grabbed a handful of snow and dumped it on him. "Is it now?"
"Not a fair match, now is it?" He leaned up and attempted to kiss her, disappointed when she ignored it.
"Oi!"
"That would be treaty, baby…and I'm not givin' in."
"You're too competitive." Connor sighed, pushing himself back up.
By the end of the day, they had built three snowmen, a huge fort, and had even driven around to go sledding, they caught snowflakes on their tongues when it started snowing again, and even fighting with icicles as if they were light sabers.
When they had gotten in, they were numb and stiff. Abby collapsed on the couch, wearing an oversized sweatshirt that belonged to her fiance and wrapped herself in a blanket, Connor cuddling her tightly.
"Cold?"
"Uh huh…" She nodded. "You are too."
"Yeah…and I know a brilliant way to warm up," He gave a sly smile and removed the sweatshirt from her body.
"Mmm, I might like this idea…thanks for my first snow day."
"It's not a problem, love. I'm glad you had fun," He kissed her passionately and it went from there.
