We were on the run again, as usual. The infected were on our heels, my squad started to tire and we needed to find some shelter. I told James and Jenny, the twins, to take aim and fire with their slingshots. It slowed down a few infected, but the herd of the infected was still on our tail. Liam was yelled to the group that there was house that we could keep cover in. We all rushed inside and Liam and I tried to barricade the front door. The twins started to go barricade the back door. I started to feel scared because we haven't been in this situation before. My team saw me sweating and staring off. They knew that I was not in a great a position at the moment. James then took the lead and told everyone to get into their positions. The twins took the upstairs area and took debris off the floor, like, shards of glass, small pebbles, and small pieces of wood. James and I took the front door using the spears we made with sharpened rocks and long poles. Cris and Mike took the back door with knives and bats they found in the kitchen and in the house. We started to prepare for the worst to come, everyone was ready and were scared. As we heard the ground to shake we knew they had to be at least 100 to 200 infected coming our way. I know this only going to be our beginning of us surviving against everything. I started to remember how everything was normal with people walking down the streets having no worries. Everyone had their business to go about and never had to fight, scavenge, or even kill to survive. As I remembered these things I did not notice that I was crying and I felt a warm hand wipe away my tears and tell me that everything was going to ok. When I opened my eyes I saw James whipping tears away and that gave me hope. As the first infected came to try to break through barricade, I took a stab at his and pierced through skull and watched the dark red blood run down my spear as I pulled it out of its skull. I knew this would only be the beginning struggle of my life.
