Shit! Why did I have to go and do that? I'm such an idiot.

Salzareth Shadowmen, King of the Nightmare Realm, gay polygamist with three husbands and a boyfriend, and the biggest jerk in the whole city, maybe the whole world, in his opinion, stood there. Staring up at a silver grey sky, thinking of the heart he had, not one week ago, added to his collection. Sal then lowered his eyes to witness the all too familiar fountain before him. This is where he had talked with him heart to heart, where he had taken him, where he had explained his unhesitant and unwavering love towards him.

Kat…

Sal looked back up to the sky and he felt something drip onto his cheek, he sighed. He pulled his coat closed and tied it shut. He listened to the rain fall around and on him for no shorter than fifteen minutes. Soaked, tired, and in a really pissed off mood, he sighed once more.

Then he heard a familiar voice and then he turned. Before him stood, like a lost memory, the Kat from the other time and place. Kat smiled at Sal, "You look troubled Sal. What happened?" Sal looked at Kat with wide eyes for a moment wondering how in the hell had the Kat from the paralleled universe, showed up here. He decided he'd ask Zana, Ruler over the Universe.

Sal turned away and closed his eyes, "I… I told you how I felt." Kat looked confused before he realized it was not himself whom was being mentioned but this universe's Kat. He looked eager and smiles as he asked, "So what happened? Did it work how we had planned?" His smile faded as he saw Sal lowered his head, and then shook it a moment later, "Not how we planned…" Kat looked curious and Sal turned to him sadness in his eyes.

"Kat, I didn't tell you the whole story…" Sal then explained about his husbands Helios, Dara, and Angel, as well as his boyfriend Xyen. Kat felt something in the pit of his stomach, it was an uncomfortable feeling, one that just as he got used to it and it would seem foreign once more. "I see…" was all he could muster, wondering what the thoughtful look on Sal face was meant to mean. It was a look of guilt, remorse, but there was an unknown emotion there, maybe excitement?

"Sal, what are you thinking?" Kat was almost worried, almost. Sal looked serious. He turned to Kat, "I'm thinking… That I'm going to do something really stupid." Kat sweat-dropped, "Why would you intentionally do something stupid? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of trying to accomplish anything?"

Sal lowered his head and stated in an almost wise tone, "Kat, do you know why I'm a polygamist? It's because I'm never satisfied with what I have. I'm always searching for something that will fill the longing in that thing people call a heart," he laughed at this given, in his younger days there were rumors that he had burned it in return for drugs, though that was a long, long time ago, "With you, I don't have that longing. My heart bursts when I see you, I feel on the brink of tears when I think of the horrible thing they did to you at the facility," Sal clenched his jaw and tightened his fist. "I feel like my life is worth something when I'm with you Kat! Like I was born to meet you, protect you, and love you!"

Kat blushed, "You really love me," his eyes started to fill with tears, "that much?" Sal nodded and turned to him, "With every fiber of my being." Kat blushed darker and ran to Sal, he clung to him with all his strength and Sal welcomed it. "Now all you have to do, is tell the other me from your universe." Sal sighed, "easier said than done."
