It's Not Mine

She was too tall. She was dressed wrong. She walked all wrong. But she had a hat on. Mike Logan watched the woman walking around the squad room, but he couldn't see her face. She seemed like she belonged there but he was suspicious. He walked around the room to see who it was, but she seemed to have luck on her side because she moved at just the right time and he couldn't see her face.

No one else seemed to notice her. It could be that she looked like she belonged there. He decided to walk over to her and see if she knew what exactly she was doing. He headed for her.

Captain Ross came out of his office and paused reading some papers. He finished his perusal and looked up. "Take off the hat inside the squad room." He barked, annoyed, at the woman.

It was Falacci! "It matches my outfit." She said tentatively.

Ross scowled at her. "Take it off."

With obvious reluctance, she reached up and pulled off the hat. Then it became clear why she'd left it on. Her normally flame red hair was a riot of colors, pink, purple, orange, yellow, blue and black. She looked like she was wearing a clown wig.

Laughter broke out. Even Ross had trouble keeping a straight face. "What happened?" he asked.

"My kids spilled their poster paint off the shelf and it landed here. I can't get it out." Falacci said trying to smile through the embarrassment.

"Hats should not be worn in the squad room." Ross said, still trying not to smile.

"You look unusal, Falacci." Logan tried to keep the laughter contained and couldn't.

Ross turned to go back into his office. He paused and turned back to her. "Put the hat back on, Falacci." He said with a pained expression and closed his door.
