Mulder & Scully

"Scully is really castrating sometimes. She reminds me of you." Pete shouted while the credits paraded on the screen.

The two agents had decided to watch the X-Files marathon on TV. Pete had managed to convince the woman with a speech of his own on the importance of sharing little things with your co-workers, because it helped to solidify the bond.

"Ok. Stop. Rewind. And now replay in your head what you just say." Myka replied, a subtle note of threat in her voice. Her partner seemed to catch the warning, because his handful of popcorn never reached her destination. He promptly closed his eyes, mumbling to himself, and Myka could tell that – at her advice – he repeated the scene in his mind.

"Uh" he dropped awkwardly at the realisation, reopening his eyes carefully. His teammate raised a wary eyebrow at him; he had to catch up, and quickly.

"I didn't mean it in that way…" he pleaded, sheepish.

"Oh, really. And what do you mean exactly?"

"I mean… She's so… desperately rational. And she only swears by rules. And… And she always restrains Mulder… She's…

"Castrating. Like me."

"No… Yes. But castrating in a good way!"

"Castrating in a good way! Are you kidding me?"

"No! Absolutely not. Yes, she is badly rational, she restrains Mulder, but it takes it to keep him on the track. If she wasn't so stickler about rules, nobody would be there to back him up when he plays the cowboy. Mulder is nothing without her, and the contrary is also true. They are a team, they complete each other."

The sudden silence weighed heavily after his outburst. Pete waited for a retort, but Myka was too much engrossed in her thoughts. The man interpreted her quietness as a bad sign.

"You know, Scully isn't just castrating. She's very intelligent, always willing to face the danger when it's necessary and she's hot… too."

"So, Myka stated, the last comment waking her up, if I follow your reasoning, you find me clever, courageous and sexy."

"This is a trick question, isn't it? Because if I say you're effectively hot, you'll kill me, and if I say you're not my type, you'll be deadly vexed."

"I already know you find me attractive and I didn't kill you. Not yet."

"How can you know if I…"

"Pete, you're not so subtle when you stare at my ass."

"Hum. I promise it will never happen again… Or at least, I will be more vigilant."

"Fineness isn't one of your virtues. You're just so much like Mulder."

"Ok, well, I know where we go now and I don't like it. How is Mulder?"

"Incredibly annoying, impulsive, muddle-headed…"

"Ceasefire, I believe I understood the general idea."

"But he's also valiant, loyal, resourceful and quite charming."

"Charming, eh?"

"Of course, this is the only thing you noted."

Mulder-Lattimer chuckled slightly, and a shy smile lighted up his colleague face.

Then, abruptly, Pete realized something.

"Scully and Mulder, they end up together, right?"
