The Underdog

One-shot

(Through the eyes of Gordo)

I can't believe she had the nerve to invite me to her wedding. Of all the things we've ever done together, of all the things we ever were, and she turned me down, and invited me to her wedding. The nerve of that girl. I swear, sometimes…I wish I never met her, but there's times I regret that. Boy do I ever resent saying that. I just…who on earth is she even marrying!

"Gordo I'm so glad you could make it." Chimed Lizzie.

"Yeah, I am too. I guess." He answered.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing Lizzie. I just feel a bit betrayed." He looked over her gown. She looked so beautiful. But it wasn't him she was giving the ring too. And he wouldn't ruin the best day of her life.

When all was done, they let the young bride give an announcement to the group of visitors. Gordo was about to leave, but he didn't. He stood his ground.

"I would have to say, I've had at least 4 memorable days in my lifetime. The first of which was my little brother being born. The second was the day I met Miranda. The third would be today. And the fourth…the Fourth day I will remember forever. The fourth day was the day I met the most wonderful man in the world, the best friend I ever had." She looked out in the crowd to find him, but didn't see him

"He secretly loved me for almost 20 years, but never said a word. He thought it was selfish. He watched me date over 15 guys, and gave me advice on how to win them over. He helped me through all the bad times I had, and even gave me his wish at graduation to follow my heart. He gave me what I know no man could ever give me. He gave me a true friendship, and true happiness. I know you're all expecting me to be talking about my husband, but I'm not. The man I'm talking about, Is the only man I know who would attend the wedding of the woman he loved. His name is David Gordon. And I'm so happy he came today. Weather he's here now or not."

Gordo looked up at Lizzie wide eyed. He wasn't going to cry, or be mad, or anything. He kept his distance and watched her dance with her new husband. He decided to make his own announcement.

"I know that most of you don't know me, but my name is David Gordon, but they call me Gordo. And yes, everything Lizzie said was true. I won't ruin her wedding day, and I won't hold it against her for not marrying me. I wish you all the luck in the world, Lizzie. I hope you get everything you ever wanted, and I hope that you love me as a friend, and not what I was. If you look at your house, there's a present for you, you can keep it on a chain to your heart, or sell it, I really don't care, but I want you to have the ring I was going to give you."

With that said he left.

Gordo woke up with a start hoping that what happened was all just a dream. He pulled out his cordless phone and dialed the first number that came to mind without thinking of who, or what time it was.

"Hello?" answered a groggy female.

"This is Lizzie?"

"Yes, Gordo. What do you need?"

"Your still fifteen, right?"

"As far as I know, I am."

"Good. Lizzie, I know you'll forget in the morning, but I love you. I don't want to see you marry someone else, I don't ever want to be at your wedding, unless it's me walking with you. Anyway, goodnight."

Suffice it to say, she never slept that night, and Gordo got his wish.

This was a small thing I did for a friend. I know it's a bit confusing but I hope you like it.
