This has been written down for a while in my head, but this is actually the first time I have written it down. I hope you enjoy.

(Warning: In this universe, Max chose Arcadia Bay over Chloe. I don't know whether you picked this yourself, but if you didn't I hope you enjoy this anyway.

Max. The name everyone called me by. I wouldn't use it, if it wasn't for Chloe. It seemed like a fitting tribute to her sacrifice, a sacrifice that nobody knew about but me.

As for the matter of her death, that was dealt with quickly. Nathan was found with the gun in his hand, trying to dispose of her body. He threw Mr J under the bus, so at least some loose ends were tied up.

If only Chloe were here to witness it.

I walk past the Two Whales, in a world of my own. Every time I see David, or one of the families I helped during the storm, I remember the choice I had to make on that clifftop. The choice which ended Chloe's life, and saved many others.

Everything was still, out here near the lighthouse. It was a peaceful place, a place where I could sit and watch the waves lap up against the edge of the town. An empty place.

Not today, apparently. A young man is sitting on the bench I always sit at. His hair is tousled and the shade of rustic leaves. I notice he has a wide smile; a smile that is contagious.

We say hello, and I sit down next to him.
