Okay, just a little one shot I thought up. It's nothing big and it was quickly written so don't judge it too harshly :p anyway, it's about Kenshin, and it's before he meets up with Kaoru and the others. (because that's not made clear in here, but I still thought everyone should know) So hope you all enjoy, and if you have any questions ask me. Thanks!

Faded

His hands held the blood of many. Blood of the lives he'd taken. He couldn't remember the exact number any more, or all of their faces. It had become a blur of people not long after he had first started taking their lives.

The guilt was unbearable but he had to hold the weight. He knows that he should remember the exact number of how many lives he had cut short, or how their faces looked. But after awhile of killing he had learned not to look at their faces. As cowardly as it was, it was easier if you couldn't remember their face. That way you wouldn't dream of them staring at you later on. It made what you had to do easier. You knew it would haunt you later, but that was okay. By then you'd either be dead or what you were killing for would be accomplished and you'd have time to deal with the guilt and the pain.

He needed a reminder that no one but he would get. Something that wouldn't let anyone know who he really was or what he had done. After awhile he finally figured out the perfect thing.

It was pink.

He wears it as a reminder, for the number of lives he's forgotten, the faces he never memorized. He doesn't deserve to have moments where he it's forgotten, those days have past. So he'll get teased, or given a hard time, because of the color. Many mock him or suggest something else. But he ignores it.

The people he comes across now, the people who see him. They don't look at him and guess who he is or what he's capable of, they don't see him as a threat to them. They just see a wanderer, a man who wears a woman's color, and they dismiss him, let him pass without too much trouble.

His reasons are simple. He needs to remember, but he doesn't need for anyone else to remember.

Deep red blood stained on the pure white you used to be. It wont come off, no matter how hard you scrub. It's there forever. Stained deep, it always leaves a stain. Sometimes it's not always visible, but it's always there. It never goes away.

But if you scrub hard enough, try hard enough, it will fade. It wont even be red anymore.

It'll be pink.
