The first time I saw her, her auburn hair was pulled back in a long ponytail that almost reached her waist. She was smiling up at the night sky, dotted with stars that shone like diamonds, as she stepped off the Hogwarts Express. Her smile only grew as we entered the castle and we were both sorted. She to Ravenclaw, I to Hufflepuff.
We first spoke in our second year, when professor Snape assigned us as partners in potions class. She smiled a smile even prettier than the first, almost a year ago. We became inseparable.
In our third year we went to Hogsmeade together. She held my hand tight as we passed the dementors. We shared our first Butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks, toasting our friendship. She told me she found my freckles endearing.
As our fourth year came around I grew jealous of all the other boys who sought her attention and her hand for the Yule Ball. I smiled as she turned each and every one away. My heart leapt with joy when she accepted my invitation, and it was that night that we shared our first kiss.
The fifth year was the first time I saw her cry. I held her in my arms until she fell asleep, whispering how everything would turn out fine even though we both new it would not. Not ever.
Our sixth year was the year we decided to share all our secrets with each other. She told me she had never trusted anybody the way she trusted me. I told her hat even though the world was in turmoil, having her by my side gave me the strength to keep moving forward.
The last time I saw her, she was smiling up a the night sky, dotted with stars and curses that flashed like lightning. Her auburn hair was pulled back in a long ponytail that reached her thighs. She said she loved me as she tore her gaze away from the sky to look into my eyes one last time before a green flash stole her away forever.
