A/N: A short Christmas drabble... I initially wanted to draw this as a comic, but since it would have taken too long and I'm actually not really good at drawing, I just wrote it down... hope you like it, and if you do, please review ;)
I'm posting this one unbeta'd, as I wanted to publish it before Christmas time was officially over... hope you all had a great time so far and got all the gifts you wanted!
It was that time of the year again. For Danny, it meant spending time with his family and friends, getting presents as well as giving some. For Lindsay, it meant calling her family and friends in Montana, then eating alone and maybe watching some tv. But like every year, there was the Christmas party at the CSI office, an event both of them had been looking forward to, as it meant spending an evening together, without any work.
It was crowded. Lindsay never would have thought so many people to work here, but of course, all shifts combined, there were more workers than she usually saw around here. Everyone was chatting with someone, holding up their mugs filled with Christmas punch. Looking for a familiar face, she walked through the hallways, until she came to stop in front of Mac's office. He was standing inside, talking to Stella, when the mistletoe that was hanging at the doorframe of the office fell down in front of Lindsay's feet.
"Hey Lindsay, could you hang it back up, please?" Stella asked as she saw her younger co-worker picking it up.
"Sure." Lindsay took a chair to step on and tried to re-attach the branches to their original place above her head.
Turning around from their current conversations, half of the male CSI staff watched the beautiful young detective standing under a mistletoe – the perfect chance for a kiss!
As if on the same command, they all ran towards Lindsay, trying to be the first one to get what each of them had been wanting ever since she had joined their team. Of course, Danny was amongst them, probably wanting and deserving that kiss more than any of the men around him, as he already knew her well enough to see the beauty beyond her face. Unfortunately, even though he was leading, he slipped and fell right in front of her. The other men were happy to not be such clumsy fellows, but only until they saw Lindsay's reaction.
She hurried off the chair down to Danny, and kneeling in front of him she asked, "Are you okay?"
He looked up, seeing the worry in Lindsay's angelic face almost brought tears to his eyes. He wanted to answer, but just before he could say anything the mistletoe dropped once again, this time landing on Lindsay's head. Danny took the chance and leaned forward, one hand on her cheek, and kissed her. He could feel his sorroundings disappear, he felt how nothing mattered anymore except for being with Lindsay.
Shocked by Danny's attack, Lindsay froze for a moment, only to wake again in total surprise of the feelings that suddenly hit her. This one touch, his lips pressing against hers, made her realize how much she liked him, how much she cared about him. He had a different place in her heart than all the other people she had met in New York so far. She wanted this kiss to be more, thus she hesitantly opened her lips, letting him in and finding out how he felt about her.
Not paying attention to anyone of their co-workers around watching them and applauding, they slowly pulled away from each other. Their eyes still locked, Danny smiled contentedly and said, "I'm more than okay."
Since I probably won't be posting anything new this year anymore: Have a happy rest of your holidays everyone, and a great New Year! (don't worry, I'm working on the new chaps for Hitchhiker and Just a Game, they're gonna be worth the wait... I hope")
btw, if you liked the kiss but thought it was too short, I suggest reading "The Only Moment We Were Alone", also by me, it's a little longer ;)
