Just a little fluff one-shot I wrote up. I'm currently in the hospital from a car accident so I've been writing like hell lately. XD Lots of Destiel hints and fluff. No kissing or sexual content, though.

The sky was completely dark, stars twinkling softly. Castiel stared at them, feeling the stress of the Apocalypse situation melt away. He was leaning against the Impala, hands in his lap, with Dean next to him, who was also looking at the sky.

"I understand why you enjoy it here," he said. "Its…peaceful."

Dean glanced at him, taking another sip of beer. "Yeah. Helps me keep going." he said softly.

Castiel stared at him. "You do not feel you have a purpose to live?" he asked, concerned. He liked Dean here, with him. Dean helped him keep going as well.

"Well, I do, its just that…the stress and all. It gets to me. We're not like you angels." Dean said, leaning back even farther, craning his neck.

Castiel fiddled with a button on his trench coat. "We…usually don't. But I have developed human characteristics. They're very confusing and difficult to control."

Dean nodded. "Yeah. That's pretty much it." He swallowed hard. Right now, he wanted to stay here, in this moment. With Castiel by his side, he was safe. He felt different around him.

"The feeling of care is also hard to feel. Being altruistic itself, that's not bad, but affection along with care is infuriating. Many emotions running through your head." Castiel mused, looking at Dean.

"That's more like love, Cas." Dean smirked.

"Love? Like you love your vehicle?" Castiel asked, cocking his head slightly.

"No, like you really, really care about someone. And you couldn't live without them. You want to be with them, to love them forever, no matter how much it would hurt. Protect them, you know? You can love them like family or…." his shifted toward the angel, "something more. To hold them while they cry, laugh with them…" his voice trailed off.

Castiel frowned. "I do not understand. What if you are not allowed to love? What if I loved someone, but it is forbidden, and I do not understand love itself?"

Dean's green eyes glistened. "Its easy once you feel it, Cas."

They were silent for a moment. Castiel scooted a little closer. "Have you ever been in love, Dean?" he asked softly.

Dean paused, and stared hard into Castiel's eyes. "Yes. I am right now." he said, smiling slyly but affectionately.

For a second, Castiel looked startled. "You…share these feelings with me?"

"The real question is, Cas, do you?" Dean asked.

But Castiel didn't get to answer because explosions of light suddenly boomed across the sky, crackling once the light wore out.

He saw Dean smile.

Castiel stood up and imagined catching the light in his hands. He could feel the energy on his hands, and feel it dissipate on his palm, which made him smile.

Red, green, blue, and yellow colored the night sky, lighting up the Earth even more. Lights of hope, love, and pure happiness.

Because that's what Castiel felt.

"What are these?" Castiel asked in awe.

"Fireworks." Dean said.

No more was said until Dean closed the distance between angel and mortal, and for once, they felt free of all what was bad.
