More than Anyone

Summary: Vanessa gets an interesting call from Nate.

Disclaimer: I don't own Gossip Girl, or this amazing couple.

She's eating egg foo young, her legs up on the coffee table, when her cell phone rings.

The boyfriend, it flashes. She rolls her eyes playfully and picks it up.

"V-Vanessa?" Nate stumbles. Vanessa can smell scotch and Budweiser across the phone line.

"I just w-went out with C-Chuck." Nate laughs uncontrollably. "It w-was fun."

"I can tell." Vanessa snorts. She can hear Chuck in the background. Nate has his phone on speaker.

"Thanks so much, Chuck." She shouts into the phone.

A completely sober Chuck yells, "No problem!"

She just shakes her head and waits for Nate to say something. She can scold Chuck some other time.

"I f-feel dizzy." Nate says randomly. "E-Everything's spinning."

He sounds like he's six years old. Vanessa thinks it's adorable, but she'll never tell him that.

"You should go to sleep." She suggests softly.

"O-Okay." He giggles a bit. "V?"

"Yeah?"

"You know I love you," Nate says seriously. "R-Right?"

"Yes." Vanessa smiles. "I love you too."

Chuck is laughing in the background. "Whipped!"

"Chuck, go talk to Blair." Vanessa suggests. She's got him in his weak spot.

Chuck groans and shuts up.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Nate."

Nate hiccups. "G'night."

"Night." Vanessa hangs up the phone.

Ruby comes in with a laundry basket.

"Someone's in love." She smirks as she sets the basket down on the coffee table.

Vanessa changes the channel on the television. "He was drunk. He won't remember that conversation tomorrow." She laughs a bit.

Ruby raises an eyebrow. "But you love him, don't you?"

Vanessa rolls her eyes. "Of course I do." She quiets a bit. "More than anyone."

Ruby grabs the basket again. "Then I'd say you two are meant to be." She goes to load her clothes into the washing machine.

Vanessa ponders the thought. Meant to be. Sounds about right.

She flips through the channels until she finds The Holiday on.

Maybe today she can tolerate a love story. They seem possible these days.

Author's Note: Well, this is for the drabble challenge up at nv_drabbles. I decided to do the drunk dialing theme, with a bit of Ruby. And of course, the Three Musketeers, because they're awesome.

Reviews! I will love you for them. Thanks, Cass
